Nicholas Charles FITZSIMMONS b. 1835 MD, d. 29 May 1885, Newark, OH. Married abt.1869-70 to Mary F. FOSTER b. 1854 VA. d. 1922, Newark, Oh. At the time of her death she had remarried to Maurice H. FLINN. Charles is my great grandfather and I have found him and Mary on the 1870 census in VA. and on the 1880 census in OH with the children, except for my gfather who was born 22 Feb, 1984. Who is N.C.’s parents and siblings? Another unknown is regarding my grandfather James FITZSIMMONS’ business. I know he owned a restaurant on 1st and Canal St., Newark, OH. My father was born upstairs and the building was still standing when I was home this past summer. Originally, I think he was in business with his older brother Albert (same place), Albert died in 1911. This same restaurant was known as FISHER/FLINN RESTAURANT but I don’t know if it was before or after my grandfather owned it. FLINN was a ½ brother. In the Newark, Licking County Directory 1921-22 the business is listed as FITZSIMMONS’ RESTAURANT AND BAR and in the same directory is a listing for the FITZSIMMONS’ UNDERTAKING CO. How can I find out more about these business’? How do I research this from Hawaii? Is there any place I can contact or do I need someone there in Newark? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
