    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DZB.2ACI/875.2 Message Board Post: Hi Monica!!!! Decided to reply here, rather than your email: Many of the original settlers of Fairfield County and southern Licking County are of German nationality. The GOSS and BIBLER families, which are my ancestors, came from Germany, and you may find a few headstones (and lots of Last Wills!) written in German. Francis Bibler, an original settler in Basil (now Baltimore Ohio and formerly considered German Town as you mention), is the son of Johann Franciscus Bibler, who arrived at the Port of Philadelphia via Rottersdam (Rottiersdam) Germany, coming from Baden in September of 1751. Rottersdam is quite possibly one of the most 'popular' ports of departure for our German ancestors. Johann was on the Ship St. Andrew. Additionally, many of the German arrivals in the US traveled the Shenandoah Valley, and worked their way north into Ohio. The Pennsylvania region just out of Ohio is another popular stopping off place for our ancestors of Fairfield County. Finally, many of the Germans arriving in Fairfield/southern Licking county, left AWESOME documents. If your ancestors lived south of Kirkersville or even south/southeast of Etna, check at the Lancaster Courthouse in the Records Dept. for information on your ancestors. Lisa
