Hi, I'm new to the list. I am searching for information on Peter Hammer [Jr} of Licking County, Ohio, whose wife was Mary Fry. In 1828 he purchased land in Licking Co, Ohio, from Daniel & Sarah Gosnell [Deed Bk K:141], 2nd Sec in the 3rd Township of the 13th Range, half of Lot No. 5 and half of Lot No. 12 containg 100 acres. Can anyone tell me what area of the county this would be located? I didn't find Peter Hammer in Licking Co in the 1830 census index, so went through the entire county thinking the indexer may not have been able to read the writing, but to no avail. I found an Abraham Fry. Peter Hammer and his family may have been in this household, and this Abraham Fry may have been his father-in-law. According to an old family history, Peter Hammer died there in 1838 and his wife soon after. Is there a county map or a "Road & Transportation" map that shows cemeteries? Has anyone copied inscriptions in the area where they lived.? Heirs of Peter Hammer included Abraham Gosnell & Elizabeth his wife, Samuel Meservey & Katherine his wife, William M Page & Mary his wife, all of Licking Co Ohio. The latter, Mary, sold her 1/8 interest to Abraham Hammer and relinquished her "dower right", which indicates to me she may not have been a daughter, but possibly a former daughter-in-law who was previously married to a son of Peter Hammer. The thought that originally crossed my mind was that this was Peter's widow, but she would have had only a dower right and not 1/8 interest.
