Came with the Duzan family to this county in 1834. Just entering a life of usefulness, he was long a citizen on Eagle Creek, and where he owned and operated a grist mill for years. He, like the other members of his family, was a Democrat, and as such was elected to the lower house of the state legislature in 1844-45. Served one year. He is the father of Mrs. Benjamin Shelburn, of Eagle Township, also of Mrs. Mark Simpson, a banker of Zionsville. Also of James and William, both deceased, both of whom had prepared themselves for the practice of medicine. The former died in Oregon, in 1852, is buried on the Columbia River. He was near twenty-two years of age. William died at about the same age. George N. studied medicine with his uncle, W.N. Duzan, and is now practicing at Zionsville. Another daughter married Hon. I. N. Cotton, in 1856. She died several years since. ! Mr. Cotton resides four miles southwest of Zionsville. There were perhaps other children but their names we do not know. Mr. D. was a fair speaker and well informed man. He died at Zionsville about the year 1873.
