However, I just started working the Duke line and am far from puzzling out all of the pieces.The Dukes I seek In Licking County resided in Johnstown. Of greatest interest to me is Levi Hoover Duke for whom my great grandfather was named. Levi Duke was born in Va. in 1795 and married Persis Chapin in Johnstown in 1822. Levi Duke was the son of John Duke born 1774, and he was the son of Francis Duke . Were John or Francis Duke part of your line? I have always been frustrated at not being able to ascertain the whereabouts of their burial as census images tend to indicate they lived in Johnstown for their entire lives.
