Hello everyone. I found this the other day and thought I would pass the information along in case anyone here was interested. The 1860 Mortality schedule is available on CD rom for Licking county. I’ve heard of this, but I’ve never actually seen it before. It sounds interesting. Here is the link if you want to check it out: http://cgi.ebay.com/1860-Mortality-schedule-Licking-county-Ohio_W0QQitemZ170219458902QQihZ007QQcategoryZ20927QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713.m153.l1262 Or you can just go to ebay and do a search for Licking mortality schedule 1860. I hope this helps someone! Bob M. (I have no connection to this person-- I’m just passing along the info)

Hi, Too bad you missed the cemetery - you must have been very close. It is fairly good sized and rises to a hill near the center. (My 3d great grandparents Sarah Millar Artz and Jacob Artz, died 1868 are buried there.) You can see it from Route 40 (National Road) going east, where Pike Street branches off to the south (right). I believe that is the only way into the cemetery (Off Pike Street) but then I haven't been out there since last summer. They built the housing area around the cemetery a few years ago. Well kept cemetery. If you exit I-70 onto 310 North, turn left (West) on Pike Street. It goes right to the cemetery on left (equivalent of a few city blocks). You can't miss it that way. Ohio, Dec. 4, 1840. He married Mattie Emeline Meadows in 1866 and had one daughter, Sarah Ann McDonald (2nd gr grandmother). I do not know if he had previously been married as he declined to answer that question on divorce records between him and Mattie. Some of the other places of residence that he listed were Carmi, White Co., Illinois; Hamilton Co., Ill; Butler County, Mo; Ardeola, Stoddard Co., Mo; Donaphan, Ripley Co, Mo. He died on October 15, 1920 in Harviell, Butler Co., Mo. There is a W. McDonald listed in the 1840 Licking Co. census with what appears to be a wife, 4 daughters, and 2 sons. I am wondering if this could be his family. Does anyone have any information that can help? William stated in later census records that his parents were both born in Ireland, and on another census he stated that his mother was born in Scotland. He also indicated that English was his second language and he was remembered as speaking with a very strong brogue. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Subject: Fw: New Senate bill would boost Ohio history ( Senate Bill 336 is a companion bill to House Bill 16) (To view SB 336, click here.) Hello Everyone: Here is legislation that should interest us all! Please contact our local legislators asking for support. Subject: New Senate bill would boost Ohio history To view SB 336, click here. New Senate bill would boost Ohio history Tax Check-Off Proposal Would Support Ohio History Take Action! Senate Bill 336 would help create a competitive matching grants program Sen. Mark Wagoner (R-Ottawa Hills) introduced Senate Bill 336 on May 12. This legislation would create a new tax check-off on Ohio individual income tax forms, whereby people could voluntarily donate a portion of their tax refund to the Ohio Historical Society. The Ohio Historical Society has testified in committee hearings that it would use the revenue - estimated at roughly $500,000 annually - to create a new competitive matching grants program for local history-related organizations. Sen. Wagoner's Senate Bill 336 is a companion bill to House Bill 16, introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives last year by State Rep. Kathleen Chandler (D-Kent). To view SB 336, click here. A matching grants program would double the state's investment into local history projects and initiatives. There are hundreds of local organizations all across the state that would be eligible for such a grants program, enabling this pool of money to be distributed equitably to help local communities and organizations preserve Ohio's history. Please take a moment to express your support for Senate Bill 336 or Rep. Chandler's House Bill 16 to your local legislators today!
