Connie, I've been trying to find my notes on Rev. Elijah Schofield & Anne Willison. I remember finding on a web site something about the Schofield name and I think it was in Pennsylvania. However, I've put it away too good for I can't find it at present. Elijah & Anne are supposed to have moved to Ohio, but I again can't find my notes or reference. I'll keep looking and hopefully will find my notes. The following was recently posted on Shaw rootsweb (SHAW-L@rootsweb.com) Subject: [SHAW-L] Re: Robert Shaw Date: Fri, 16 Oct 1998 14:33:38 EDT From: SS6433@aol.com To: SHAW-L@rootsweb.com The following is from a book entitled "History of Adair, Sullivan, Putnam and Schuyler Counties, Missouri"; The Goodspeed Publishing Co. 1888. Personal, Business and Pofessional with nemerous Family Records and sketches. Robert Shaw, farmer and stock raiser, was born in Licking County, Ohio in 1812, and moved to Fulton County Ill., in 1836; and in March, 1869 began to farm in Schuyler County, where he has since resided. He began life for himself when twenty-one years of age, and from a poor man has become the owner of 663 acers of choice land in Schuyler County, and 160 acers in Scotland, County, Mo., and also 350 acers in Fulton County, Ill., which is good evidence of his business ability and good management. In 1833 he was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Boadner, a native of Pennsylvania and by her thirteen children have been born: Alexander, Minerva (deceased), Sarah, Peter (deceased) Emaline, Mary Ann, Isaac, Henry, Jasper, Newton, Rebecca, John W., Amanda E., and James M. Mr Shaw is a Democrat, and when in Illinois served two years as tax-collector. He is the seventh of a family of thirteen children of Alexander and Mary (Bartley) Shaw, native of Virginia, who moved to Licking County, Ohio, at an early day, at which place they lived and died. The faher was a soldier in the War of 1812, and the son of Charles Shaw. He is in the "Old Burying Ground" or also known as the "Colony Burying Ground". I will be happy to check the other Cooleys, which are in neither of these cems. Just let me know. Gloria in MD
geez Connie... Im just running into you everywhere!! Glad to see you on the list! Adrienne.
Does anyone have information on a Hosea Cooley, his place of birth & date, and place of burial in Licking County: as well as, the names of his children. Hosea is shown on the 1820 Census and each one thereafter until 1860. He lived in Granville Township, was a farmer, and was 74 on the 1860 Census and his wife is shown as 64 on the same census. Does anyone have any information concerning him or his family. Thanks in advance. Lyle Barr
What is known of a David Stultz his family and his children. He is shown on the 1830 Census, in Bennington Township. On the 1850 census a David Stultz is also shown in Hartford Township as a farmer. Is this the same person or is this second David the son of the first David? If they are not, is there anything known of the children of the second David as well. Thanks, Lyle Barr
The 1820 Census shows an Adam Stultz in Madison township, what is known of his family and the names of his children? Lyle Barr
DJ, For several years I have been wondering what the connection is between your husband's Daniel FRY and my 2g-grandfather, Henry FRY. Both families lived in the Newton Township area of Licking County, Ohio. My records of Daniel and Susan are pretty much the same as yours with one exception: I think you would be safe in changing Susan's birth year to 1796. Even though her obituary says 1790, her age listed in the 1850 and 1860 census and the age and death date on her tombstone figure out to 1796. Henry FRY was born in Ohio in 1812 which was 16 years before Daniel and Susan brought their family to Ohio from Virginia. Both of Henry's parents were born in Virginia so it's possible that the fathers of Henry and Daniel were brothers. If either of us can ever determine who those fathers were, perhaps the connection can be made. Another fact that suggests that they may not have been related, even though they lived near each other, is that Daniel and some of his descendants are buried in Wilson (Vanattaburg) Cemetery while Henry and some of his family are buried in Utica North Cemetery. This might indicate that they did not belong to the same church and did not socialize together. Even so, it doesn't prove that they were not related. Let me know what you learn. Incidentally, I live in Licking Co. Donald Young
