    1. HIll's History
    2. I have never heard of this book either. If someone is looking up, would like to know if Abraham Whipple is mentioned. He came from VT in early 1800s. Would love to know his wife Parthena's maiden name or any children mentioned other than Manley or John Page. He had two brothers there as well - Enoch and Nathan Whipple. Any new leads, as always, greatly appreciated. Have Woodworth's in Licking Co. also. Is anyone else tracing them? Jan Rowe

Wood Family of New York City and then Ontario Canada Almost all the Wood searching on the list so far has been in the southern states and a bit in New Jersey, however, I am looking for information on parents and siblings of Capt. John Wood born in New York City, Kings Co, NY about 1739 to John Wood and Cynthia Winter(s). I don't know if he lived in Orange Co at the time he was in the militia or not. My John Wood was a Capt. in the Orange Co. Militia under Col. Wm. Allison and was captured and taken prisoner on 20 July 1779. He was taken and held in a dungeon in Quebec for 4 years until released on 20 June 1783, arriving home in New York on 31 July 1783. John married Rebecca Cain and they moved from New York to Leeds Co., Ontario, Canada sometime in the 1790s. John died in Leeds Co, Ontario on 1806. I am trying to find information on his parents, his siblings, and also his children, most of whom were born in Canada. Some of his children were possibly Elizabeth, William, George, Christina, Mary, Dorcus and...... Paula Ewing lurena@psyber.com

    3. Hi Everyone, In our family, we have a Adam LAFFERTY, son of Benjamin & Catherine LAFFERTY. In the Ohio Census, there is a daughter born to a Adam & Ellen (LYNCH) LAFFERTY. Ellen /Ella, born on 07 May, 1871, in Lawrence County Ohio. We found where she married James PHALEN on 24 Nov 1891, in Lawrence County. However, they all are living in Licking County. There is a James LAFFERTY who married a Fannie HAWES on 09 Nov. 1886, in Licking County. I do not yet understand all of this, because it states they are born or married in Lawrence County and living in Licking County. We also have a William (A.) LAFFERTY in our family, but do not have a full name for the A., after looking over some of the middle names, I am wondering if it could have been Absalom. Our LAFFERTY's seem to be near this family wherever they move to. Is there anyone on the list researching the Lafferty family? Thanks, Jane ~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~SURNAMES~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~ -Lafferty from IN,KS,OH,OK,VA. - Back from IN,KS,OK,VA. -Stover from GA,OK,PA,VA. - Fried/Freed/Friedt from AR,GA,OK. -Dilbeck from AR,GA. - Burkhart from AR,TN,TX. -Goss from AR,GA,VA. - Bowen from GA. -Pomplin from AR,TN. - Wells from VA. -Cutsinger from AR,TN.
