    3. Hello, Melissa and anyone else interested. I just checked the Higginson book site and didn't find Brister's book. However, it does have the following: CENTENNIAL HISTORY OF LICKING COUNTY. 2. Denny Shirer
    3. I am looking for a list of those buried in the Stewart-English Cemetery in Newark Twp., just north of town on Horns Hill Rd. I don't think it is very big so it shouldn't be a long list. In particular I am looking for any Stantons buried there and Nathan English with whom they might have lived. The Stantons would have been Elizabeth Stanton and her infant son August. The date of deaths of the Stantons was probably around 1860 and Nathan English died 2/12/1884. Also if someone has access to an obituary for Nathan from the Advocate I would appreciate some assistance in procuring a copy. Didn't have enough time to search for him this summer when I was in Newark. My ggrandfather lived with his family after his mother and brothers death while his father was away at war and for an extended period afterward. 1. COON, SHAW
    2. Hi folks, My gg grandfather John SHAW b. 1822/1823 d. 1908 was said by his son to have have been born in Muskingum Co. His parents were Charles Wesley SHAW and Anna COON. Charles was b. 1794 in VA but came to Licking Co. before 1820. Does anyone out there have SHAW and/or COON in your files? Charles was b. 1794 in Shenandoah Co. VA, a son of Charles SHAW and Keziah BEALL. Several of Charles' older brothers (old enough to have been his father - Charles was the baby) and their wives came to Hopewell Twp., Licking Co. before some of them moved on to IL. I don't know whether Charles came with his brothers -possibly after the death of the parents - or whether the parents came too. Instead of going to IL, Charles went down to Scioto Co. OH. where he married twice more after Anna COON and had a slew of children before his death in 1872. No one seems to know anything about Charles' first wife Anna COON. (my ggg grandmother) I don't know whether she died before Charles went to Scioto Co. or after. I'd love to find out about the COON branch of my family. 3. AnNMe, This may or may not qualify as a "shred" -- Ann Maria THOMAS, who Family Tree Maker tags as my great-grand aunt, married a Gilbert C. SMOOTS in Licking County, Ohio, November 1, 1882. They had at least two children: Ethel Grace SMOOTS, born November 1, 1883; and Earnest Edward SMOOTS, born about June 22, 1888. I have been hoping to find SMOOTS cousins, which might help me fill in gaps in my own line, and have not been successful to date. I guess this was a semi-shred... I will let you know if I find more solid SMOOTS info -- and will try to look for a RIAN connection. Ron Donnell great-great grandson of Thomas THOMAS of Wales & Licking Co. 2. J Sellers
    3. Hi Tami, Please look to see if you have anything on William and Sarah Sellers (Sellars), and also his second wife, Ann Eleanor Downing. William is thought to have come to Licking from PA, probably around 1805-1810. His first son, Daniel M. was born 1811. He enlisted there to serve in the War of 1812 on 7/31/1813. He lived in or near Johnstown and made improvements to the town in 1815 that began its growth (Everts, Hills histories). Sarah died in 1819 and is buried in the "Old Burying Ground". William married Ann Eleanor Downing (in Zanesville) in 1820, and by 1830 had moved about 15 miles west to Delaware Co. 1. Licking County Divorce Records
    2. David W. Boling
    3. Hello, In some old papers my Aunt gave me I found two receipts that appear to relate to a divorce I've always heard about, but was never able to confirm. I need to know where to go in Licking County to confirm this information, I'm thinking about Court Records or newspaper articles etc... One receipt gives a date, it appears to read July 17th or 19th, 1886. The second receipt lists the case # of the Divorce action as the Civil Action for Divorce#3492 in Licking County Common Pleas Court in the case of Mary L.Springer vs A.C. Springer. What are the records I need to confirm this event and where do I find them ? Thanks for your assistance. Sincerely, Dave Boling dboling@columbus.rr.com

    3. This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------16B965DF3FAF Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Tami, Thanks for the offer to look up information in the Centennial Hist. of Licking County. I'm interested in information about Johnstown and my ancestors who lived in or near there. ABEL JEWETT, 1760 - 1821 and his wife SARAH DWINNEL; their children: ABEL, DAVID, NATHAN. Their grandchildren: NATHAN (1815 - ?), ABIGAIL, Rev. TIMOTHY, SARAH ANN. Their great grandchildren: ABEL (1834 - 1863), VICTOR, LORETTA, SUSANNAH, NATHAN, WILSON, DYER, ABIGAIL, HARRIET, AMOS, MARY ALICE. ABEL JEWETT came to Johnstown from Vermont in 1815 with his son ABEL. Both died in 1821 in Johnstown and are buried in the Old Colonial Cemetery in Johnstown. The family moved to the Monmouth, Iowa area in the mid-1850s. I don't know why. I have often wondered why both father and son died in the same year (1821). I'm not certain what is in your Centennial History volumes. Anything at all about the daily life of the Johnstown area would be of interest. Who settled and founded Johnstown? When? etc. Was there an Indian raid in 1821? A smallpox epidemic in 1821?
