A lot of us, myself included, normally just read what others post. By doing this, no one knows I am researching Parrs, Smiths, and Funks. When I answered the roll call this morning I got responses from 2 cousins also researching Parrs. We exchanged some data. This is the way the system works. Nancy writes to Perry County List: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My gr-gr-gr grandfather was Solomon LINVILLE and I'm trying to find him--most particularly where he might be buried, which would tell me when he died. This is what I know of Solomon LINVILLE:b. abt 1792 Rockingham Co., VA Came to Ohio between 1812-1815m. 20 Dec 1820 Perry Co., OH to Elizabeth SHAFFER (dau. of Joseph SHAVER and Margaret ROBISON) - d. bet. 1825-1830 (Perry Co.?) OH ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nancy you probably know about the hamlet of Linville about 2 1/2 miles north of the Perry County, Licking County line. It is on the now obsolete National Pike, but in the early decades of the 1800's this was the most important road in the west. Linville was founded by a man of that name - his given name is in the Licking County Histories. You may want to look there - if you have not already done so. Good luck Hal

Researching these names in Licking Co., OH 1835-1920 Roll Call's always create excess traffic. Some people hate them, most people get some information from them. Every list has them. Every list has almost as many messages complaining about them and praising their merits. They should always be started by the Listowner and not the users. If you just delete what you don't want, ignore it, read it, post your surnames the correct way and don't start threads about them, then they will serve their purpose, and be over with a lot sooner. Hi, Eli Butler d. 9/27/1857 in Granville and is buried in Old Colony Burying Ground in Granville. Lydia died June 18 1861 and is buried next to him. They had abt. 7 children but I'm not at home and don't remember all their names. I do know that 2 of them , Eli and Joel, died in the Civil War. Justus married and his wife died and is buried next to Eli and Lydia. I know that Justus remarried and married Eli's widow and eventually moved to Illinois.(or maybe it was Indiana) When I get home I will send you the details. I also have pictures of the stones. Eli's family has been msst elusive. He was born in NY and I have several locations and families we're looking at but nothing so far. He seems to be the brick wall. If you ever see any inofmriaotn about this, please contact me.
