    3. Susan, You only had 107? I have 154 left to browse through tonight, if I really feel like it, and I cleaned up 89 last night. That is the fun of genealogy and the reason that Outlook Express has the view pane. Most of the time, my time restraints only allow me to read my email once a week, then it really piles up. Don't you just love it? Just go with the flow and browse the mail and worry about something more earth-shaking. Life is too short. My Lists can send me all the mail they want. I can either read it or not--my choice. By the way, I haven't even sent out what I'm researching yet. Cheers!!! Also, by the way, I picked your mail out of the middle of the pile because of the subject line. Again, Cheers!!! 3. Folks. I have 107 messages today. Nearly all of them say roll call in the subject. Why? Why don't you write the surname in the subject area, so people will want to open your message instead of deleting it. 1. Re: Roll Call - names in Subject Area Please
    2. Vincent
    3. Karen I echo your thoughts. The rules are supposed to be: Surnames in the subject line - 3 or 4 only with approx dates - Andrews 1821-1900. Then in the body, which should be brief, the surname should be in CAPITAL LETTERS that way a person can skim down through the message to only read the surnames and if any apply, read in detail. I just got 157 messages. I know many of you are "newbies" as I was, so don't take this as criticism only help. You too will get 157 messages one day and hopefully scream in delight! Remember surnames in CAPS, including the ladies names. Gayla KADICA@aol.com wrote: > May, I please make a suggestion. When listing names - include them in the > subject line. Lets quit this and get on with surnames or you will surely loose people and the surnames. Vickie Have a Great Day!

Personally, I don't open anything that isn't identified. Also many researchers receive upwards of 500 posts per day and do not have time to open those that don't identify in the subject line that it may be something they can help someone with. I really like helping newbies - but I don't have time to sort through messages that just say "Roll Call" or nothing to find those I might be able to help. Karen
