My ancestor was Caleb's brother John - and every bit of John's is original research based on family oral history and what I could physically root out of musty nooks and crannies in NY. My grandma knew! You cleared up some errors of mine. I had Harvey as Harry - got that mistaken clue somewhere or else it was a pebcak- no wonder I couldn't find them. Now I'll track 'em down. The other, are you sure - I have Mima as Mina, but that's mainly because it was hard to make out on census. Don't know who her parents were, either. I have NO idea where someone came up with John Hill as from Scotland, I've seen that, too, copied by others, nobody can tell me where they got it. I've original Hill research - one guy liked it so much he's been copying it wholesale without once attributing. Look for my gedcom online at rootsweb or ancestry.com. I'm trying to identify every Hill in this line since they came to NY before the Revolution.

    2. I am looking for the parents of Elizabeth Clark Hill, b 23 Apr 1778 possibly in MA, m 7 Nov 1800 in Winchendon, Worchester Co, MA to Marshall Bigelow, d 7 Oct 1846 in Granville Twp, Licking Co, OH. Both she and Marshall are buried in the Old Colony Cemetery in Granville. Do you have any information about Elizabeth? If so. I would like to share info. (I'd have to trace down where I got it since I haven't really sourced my Hill database. What I have, from my own family database since it's more up-to-date, is that she's Mary Eliza Hill b Mar 1855 OH d after 1930. Her parents were Andrew Jackson Hill b 1828 & Mima Johnson b 1830. Andrew's parents were Tildon Hill b 1784 or 1785 & Mary Pike b 1791. Tildon's parents were Caleb Hill b 1756 and Rebecca ?. If you think I have a mistake, let me know. I have looked up some of the census records and in other cases relied on others research. If there are doubts it'd be nice to check it out. Getting back to Eliza, I've seen her with various names in the censuses including M Eliza. I think I'm right on her lineage as she was the reason I got involved in starting a Hill database in the first place. I wanted to see if there was a connection between her and a couple of other Hills who'd married into my lines, including the Jesse I mentioned in the previous message. But I've made mistakes before and could be wrong on this one too, I suppose.

OK - are you saying Eliza Hill b 1854 is another of this Hill line?

However, Dorsey Mason, Isaac's son, married Malinda Hill b 1817. A brother of Malinda, Charles Green Hill b 1816 had a son Jesse who married Emma Victoria Evans, a relative of mine (see below). I found I had several relatives, from various lines, who married into the Hills in Monroe Twp., and environs. Mostly these are descendents of my Evans line. Anyway I figured I ought to do what I could to piece together the Hills and have created a database of the descendents of John Hill b about 1731 Scotland m Polly Eastman b 1737 New Fairfield, CT. At least one son of John and Polly, Caleb, ended up in Monroe Twp., Licking Co., OH and there are connections to at least two widely separated relatives of mine, Emma Victoria Evans b 1849 daughter of Bethuel Evans and Laurania Clark and Harvey Miller, son of Noah Miller and Lida Evans. Harvey, BTW, moved west to TX and then OK and I just recently managed to find him in the census records there. He married M Eliza Hill b 1854. I'd be happy to share whatever I have of the line from John & Polly on down and would love to fill in what I'm missing.

I believe Wave and Goldie Shaffer are the children os Samuel Shaffer (son of Peter Shaffer and Ellen Thatcher) and his first wife Sadie Woodruff. Sadie was the daughter of Morgen Woodruff and Elizabeth West. Elizabeth was the sister of the Uncle Joe West mentioned above. I think Cora Wave Shaffer married Charles French and Goldie Shaffer married Rex Bell. Perhaps Mr and Mrs Whetsell are Samuel and Elizabeth Wetsel of Licking Co Ohio. Joe West and his sister Elizabeth West were the children of Amos and Sarah West Hattie Hayes may have been the daughter of Sylvester Hayes. Joecan
