    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Evans Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DZB.2ACI/2454 Message Board Post: The 1982 history of Licking County says of Caleb Evans s/o John Evans b 1765, " Caleb Evans married an Anderson for his second wife and moved to Moultrie Co., Illinois. He had two daughters and a son Caleb, Emma and Adaline, by the second wife. He lived near Windson, Illinois. Caleb Evans was married first in Ohio to Elizaebeth, who died January 19, 1844 aged 34 years, buried Evans Cemetery. It is thought that there were two children by the first marriage, one of whom was John Evans who died in the Gold Rush. It is believed that there were no children by the third marriage." Caleb's father, John Evans, was a brother of my ancester Washington Evans, first white settler in Monroe Twp. I'd already found Caleb in the 1870 & 1880 censuses in Moultrie Co., IL based on the above entry, but today I decided to look further. I managed to find him in Macon Co., IL in 1860 based on his son, though his own name is spelled Cleb. But he has a Marion Anderson 20 male & Eliza Anderson 23 living with him. I used Marion to backtrack and found what I believe is the family in 1850 in Eden Twp., Licking County. Marion's widowed mother Elizabeth at 50 is too old to be the mother of Caleb's second family, but her oldest daugher, Adaline 20 fits wonderfully. Caleb is again a widower in 1860. I wonder if anyone has information about who was Elizabeth Anderson's husband, and for that matter, if anyone has additional information about the family.

They resided in Lucas County until their removal to this county in 1882, settling near Carl where they resided until a few years ago when they moved to Corning which place has since been their residence. During their residence in this county MRS. CANFIELD has enjoyed the respect and friendship of all who knew her. Besides the husband there are left to mourn two children, MRS. GRANT BRITTON of Corning, and WALTER CANFIELD of Goodland, Kan., one brother A.B. CUTLER of near Chariton, a number of relatives and a host of friends. 1. Henry Glaze/Sarah Green
    2. Karen McKellar
    3. I am trying to confirm that Henry Glaze's father was John Glaze b. 1745. Henry Glaze married Sarah Green the Daughter of Benjamin Green (the Licking County Pioneer) in 1810. Henry died in in 1814 and leaving Sarah with at least two young sons. Sarah subsequently married Ephraim Armstrong or Ephraim Anderson and moved to Iowa. I believe Henry along with my ancestor Nicholas Holsbury were part of the Green group that came to Licking County from Allegany County, MD. I would welcome any comments about this group.
