This obituary will appear in the Columbus Dispatch on Thursday, February 17, 2005. RUSH Dorothy Bell (Miller) Rush, 94, died peacefully Tuesday, February 15, 2005, 9:45 p.m. at Westerville Center Rehab after a struggle with acute congestive heart failure and pneumonia. Her husband of 47 years, Ross Rudolph Rush, preceded her in death in 1979. She was the last of her generation. Born at home on September 10, 1910 in Delaware, OH, she was Adolph and Virginia Della (Mullen) Millers youngest daughter. Despite having a large number of serious childhood illnesses, she survived the great depression as an orphaned teenager and saw every mechanical invention known to modern man evolve. In her younger years, she was an Owatonna Council Member, No. 17, Degree of Pocahontas of Delaware, OH and a twenty-year product inspector for slipper manufacturer R.G. Barry Corp. She spent her retirement years caring for her husband and grandchildren, especially Tina. She loved tending her flower gardens, reading romance novels, going to movies and craft shows, and playing bingo with her friends at Restoration Plaza Two. And no one can forget how she loved jumping out of her chair to cheer on TV game show contestants or yell at soap opera stars. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her. Six siblings preceded her in death; Beatrice Rachel Converse and infant sister Grace Miller of Delaware; Charlotte E. (George) Bocook, Mary (Claude) Jones, Gertrude I. (John, Jr.) Davis, and Joseph (Dorothy) Miller, all of Columbus. She is survived by all her children; twins Catherine Dee (Ken) Weiderman and Ross R. (Barbara) Rush, Jr.; Carolyn R. Rush, all of Columbus; Jack A. (Leilani) Rush of Newark; and Lois Ann (William) Camboni of Westerville; seventeen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, Noah. Friends may call Friday between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Newcomer-Farley Funeral Home, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH 43231, (614) 818-1188. Funeral services held 10 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2005. Internment Evergreen Cemetery. Pastor David Orin officiating. The family welcomes flowers. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thomas Talbott McGee (b. 13 Sep 1849, VA, d. 24 Nov 1894, TX) married Mary Blandy Taylor (b. abt 1870, MO, d. 1943, England) on 5 Jun 1889 at the home of her uncle, George T. Lynn (b. abt 1844, OH, m. Julia Jane Blandy of OH, on 26 Apr 1871, in Muskingum, OH), in Kansas City, Jackson Co., Missouri. In the 1880 census, George T. Lynn is listed as Mary’s uncle, having married Julia Jane Blandy. The Blandys came from England via Muskingum and Licking Counties, Ohio. Am guessing that Julia is a sister of Mary's mother, but I can't yet figure who that would have been, as I can't find Mary or her family in 1870. It is possible that Mary's age, 14 on the 1880 census, is incorrect, as later records, e.g. her burial marker, indicate she was born in 1871. A number of my ancestors followed the route from Loudon, VA to Allegany, MD to Licking County: Michael Beem, Benjamin Green, Anna Catherine Pitzer, and John Rhodes. The Pitzers, Rhodes, and Greens, also lived in New Jersey prior to Virginia. Aaron Duckworth is another family associated with Western Maryland. His daughter, Elizabeth Duckworth married Richard Beem, son of Michael Beem. Margo Hall

Since I have been unable to trace a Sally Holsbury any further than her marriage, it is possible she died soon after the marriage without leaving any descendants. It shows their ages and childrens names. Peter is shown as being age 38 and Harriett is 35. Tobias is 13. There are 5 children listed. If you go to find a grave and search McClain you will find most of my family. There stones reflect McClain but I still have cousins in Berkholtz ,Ohio spell the name McLain but if you look at most of there stones they have two ticks under the small c.
I am in the process of identifying the settlers as of 1800 at George's Creek in Allegany County, Maryland who later settled in Ohio with an emphasis on those who settled in Licking, Fairfield, or Franklin Counties. There were a number who came to what is now Licking County from Allegany, County between 1799 and 1805/6. Has anyone out there identified any of these as being Hessians who defected from the Hessian forces and settled nearby? It is my gut feeling that my ancestor, Nicholas Holsbury may have been one of these settlers. They may have defected after the Battle of Trenton in 1781. He first appears on Deakins' list as a settler on lot 3854. He and his wife left Allegany County between 1800-1805 and settled in Licking County. One of his daughters married a John Greene. Possibly this is the same John Greene who was the son of Benjamin Greene who married another lady in 1815. Since I have been unable to trace a Sally Holsbury any further than her marriage, it is possible she died soon after the marriage without leaving any descendants. Another married a Trumbo (we also find this name in Allegany County (but sparsely). Several of the Holtsberry siblings married Harter sons and daughters (children of George Harter). I am going to be searching the Hessian records in the near future and would like to include in my search any Licking County names (near Hebron) that may possibly have a link. Karen
A number of the Licking County settlers who came to Licking or Fairfield County from Allegany County Maryland between 1799 and 1820 were born in Loudoun County Virginia. It appears most of them served in the Rev War and took title to land in Maryland before moving on to Ohio. Karen
