The branch that I would connect to hasn't been followed down. So I was hoping to make the connection through the obituaries. Thanks Again Vickie

Much of it deals with the Licking County "branch" of the Greens. There is a copy at the Licking County Genealogy Society in Newark. If you don't have access to a copy someone there would probably do a look-up for you. Good luck

Although the original source much of this is based upon is a terrific resource, its sources are suspect. Let me discuss that. As I undertand it, much is based upon two bibles' entries but those bibles don't seem to exist or at least cannot be found. Let me describe two problems. I am not convince that "sons" David and Ira are sons of Hannah and Isaac. Ira's consistently b NY, so cannot have arrived OH until aft 1817. David b OH before the Baileys can have gotten there. Rather than spam/paste it all here like that above, may I ask those interested refer to my online tree at rootsweb/ancestry.com for his record. Tell me where I'm wrong and why, let's work this through. What I'm saying is that a lot of original (re)work research needs doing. We're doing that. We need to collaborate.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DZB.2ACI/2477.1.1.2 Message Board Post: At this point, I'm checking in, too. I've corresponded with Dave & Elaine for some time now. Howdy, Lois. My focus is tracking and sorting all the HILL descendants from the John who was Caleb's grandpa, the 1st who settled NY at Dutchess Co with his kids, before the Revolution. My own line was Caleb's next-younger brother John. In the course of understanding all this I've learned a bit of geography and migration patterns. What's called the minisink is the area where NJ NY and PA all come together. In our frame of reference, the Hudson and Delaware rivers also drain right about here, so Pt Jervis is a good spot to keep in mind generally. A side note, recently out of curiosity I sorted the 1850 census, Orange Co NY for people born in all states and territories - staggering. I had no idea. About the only territory missing was UT. Texas, can you imagine! Isaac Bailey's parents were John Bailey and Hannah Vail. From what I can tell, Isaac was born right there at Wallkill also. His parents may have shifted over from Westchester. Mariah, Maria Jane Bailey married William M IAMS. From the researcher of that line I'm told that Isaac died 4 Nov 1848 and is buried at Johnstown, Licking Co, OH. My online tree named Stalking Dead People at ancestry/rootsweb will show 11 children, 8 with family info. Go there, hit descendancy link for the gedcom outline. Index will go right to any individual. I tweak this whole thing at any moment I get new, different, or better info, it's dynamic not static. Onceponnatime I'd thought New Yorkers migrating to OH used the great lakes, and some did. However, this bunch surely took ship to VA and traveled with those Virginians through the still fairly newly-improved Cumberland Gap route.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DZB.2ACI/2477.1.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: There are several ways you can do it. The way Lois sent me information is to make a genealogy report and then export it as an .rtf file. This can then be attached to your message. You can also save it as a .txt or a .pdf file. If you want to make it easy for people you can simply do File, Export File, selected individuals and then pick who you want, say all descendants of John Hill. Just save it as either a .ged or, if you know they have FamilyTreeMaker, as an .ftw or .fbc file. This has the advantage of letting the file open in FamilyTreeMaker with an index and all, or even be merged into a person's existing tree (I tend not to merge as there's usually a lot of cleaning up to do either before or afterwards to make it match your existing format.)

Anything you have on the following questions would be appreciated (and I'll be glad to exchange if I have anything you're missing): 1. Who were Isaac's parents? 2. Date of death for Isaac (I have "about 1848" based on probate) 3. I have a total of 11 children for them but two are presumed, based on the 1820 census which seems to show two sons born between 1804-1810. Do you have names for those children? 4. I'm missing birthdates for Mariah, Almira and Chester; do you have? 5. I have both New York and New Jersey as place of birth for George. Surely it isn't New Jersey??? (Do you know if his middle initial H is for Hill? 6. Where are isaac and Hannah buried? It's my impression that Caleb and Rebeckah with most of their offspring, moved to Ohio together, around 1815. Do you know anything about the circumstances of the family migration? I have some indication that Caleb spent some time around Port Jervis, perhaps on the Penn. side of the river, shortly before going on to Ohio and am interested in that time frame for the family. Thanks very much for responding and do let me know if you lack any material I might be able to able to share in return.

I'm encouraged to try again with this one too! (Hope another Angel is reading this!) John Hill, born 1779 in Orange/Ulster Co, New York, oldest son of Caleb and Rebeckah Rose? Hill (who are buried at Johnstown). John married Nancy PIKE in Luzerne County, Penn, with three resulting sons: John Jr. may have settled in Franklin Co; Caleb settled Delaware Co; Abram was in Hebron, Licking Co. Nancy died c 1820, reportedly in Licking. I've found two subsequent Licking Co. marriages for a John Hill: to Lucy STEVENS, 1820; and to Eliz. HATFIELD, 1828. This John Hill reported to have died in Licking in 1853 but I find no firm source for that. Also, many land records in Licking and which COULD be "my" John Hill. No problem finding info on Anyone researching this family, please get in touch. Thanks very much.
