Surnames: Shoemaker, Buxton, Philbrook, Pyles Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DZB.2ACI/2514 Message Board Post: Dear Licking county researchers: I am trying to obtain a listing of the Old Johnstown Cemetery in Johnstown, Ohio where Christopher and Mariah Barbara (Keller) Shoemaker. Some of their children may also be buried at the Johnstown Cemetery. Any assistance in getting a copy of the cemetery listings would be appreciated. Their daughter Mary Ann Shoemaker was married to Earl Buxton. She died in 1865. We are trying to find the place of burial for her. One source stated her husband Earl Buxton died in 1885 and was buried in Homer, Ohio. It did not state she was buried there. Also interested in any Shoemaker marriages in Licking Co., Ohio. Any help with this is appreciated. We are trying to update our family tree. Sincerely, John Burnett Cold Springs, NV

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Lookup Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/DZB.2ACI/2513 Message Board Post: We are pleased to announce the publication of two new books which will certainly be of help as you research your Fairfield County ancestors. ___________________________ 1820 Federal Census of Fairfield County, Ohio by Rebecca Huddle This is the COMPLETE Census showing each head of household and the specific count of males and females in each household. Occupations, ie. agriculture, commercial or manufacture, are indicated. Also, those foreigners not naturalized and the count of "colored persons" and whether they were free or slave are included. What makes this book unique, and SO valuable, are the three indices that Rebecca has included..... a LAST NAME index, a FIRST NAME index, and an index by TOWNSHIP. Kudos and thanks to Rebecca for the countless hours she spent poring over census images and meticulously transcribing thousands of names and numbers. 1820 Federal Census of Fairfield County, Ohio 110 pages (printed single-sided for ease of reading), 3 indices included $15.00 (free shipping) READY TO SHIP ___________________________ Genealogical Abstracts of the Lancaster (Ohio) Gazette, Vol. VI, 1901–1905 by Jean Collier You will spend many hours with this book! As with the previous five volumes, Vol. VI includes references to births, deaths, marriages and other items of genealogical interest published in the Lancaster Gazette. Entries are in chronological order by the date of the newspaper listing. Surnames are bold-faced and easy to locate on each page after finding specific surnames in the index. We are very appreciative of the hours and days Jean spent reading the newspaper microfilm and writing the information for this publication. We also value the time FCC volunteers Barbara Rowles and Patsy Kishler spent typing and indexing and preparing the information for publication. Genealogical Abstracts of the Lancaster (Ohio) Gazette, Vol. VI, 1901 – 1905 235 pages, fully indexed. $23.00 – PRE-PUBLICATION SALE PRICE if ordered by AUGUST 31st, 2005. $25.00 – beginning September 1, 2005. Free shipping. Pre-pub orders will be shipped on or before September 15th in the order received. ___________________________ Both books may be ordered via PayPal at: www.fairfieldgenealogy.org (click on the "Publications" button) or you may send check or money order to: Fairfield County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society P.O. Box 1470 Lancaster, OH 43130-0570

I'll still use Martin as first name, I guess I assume in signing a legal doc. for the milt. or gov't he would have used his legal name. There wasn't even a middle intial on them. Just Martin Varner. But I guess it will be recorded differently by family members. Thanks Barbara

Even his desc who still owns his land and tends to the cem, told me it was new to him , it was just the past few years that has turned up I keep asking if there is a record of Wesley Martin and no one can tell me only that so and so wrote it that way and its in a book. Surnames: HORN, CRIST Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DZB.2ACI/1934.1.1 Message Board Post: Would you happen to have a Herman Horn born on 8 Nov 1871, in Germany. He lived in Alexandria, IN. and was married to Hannah Crist Horn. I have not been able to positively identify his parents. They could possibly be August and Augusta Horn, but I'm not sure. I know that Hannah immigrated to the US in 1881 from Germany and I think Herman was about the same time, but they were not married yet. They married on 16 Aug 1899 in Alexandria, Madison Co., IN. Would you know anything about this family?

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DZB.2ACI/1981.1 Message Board Post: I believe John may be a brother of William Horn who is my line. I think this because William did have a brother named John. Also, my William is living with or right next to William H. Horn in the 1860 Licking Co census. My William came from Va and your William H. was born in Virginia. I have seen your name in a lot of my research. Feel free to email me directly, I feel we have some common ancestors.

They migrated to Ohio as did her brother William Horn from who I am descended. Their father is supposed to be a Michael Horn who came from Germany. I have no proof of that but the marriage bond lists Michael Horn as bondsman.
