Dear Shoemaker Researchers, I don't have possession of the book, but I was sent pages 480-488 of The Michael Shoemaker Book by W.T. Clark. The person who sent me these pages didn't send me a photocopy of the title page, so I can't give you the date or any other necessary information, but I get the impression that it is a very large book full of information. The pages I received have extensive information about the BREESE family - Fannie Sharps SHOEMAKER b. 14 Oct 1864 in Luzerne Co., PA married John Emory BREESE. I strongly recommend searching for this book as you might find useful information. Judy Martin <[email protected]>

    3. Thanks............not my branch. Or I don't think so and how is that for confidence? I have Benjamin Shoemaker's Shoemaker Pioneer Book and my bunch is on page 343. I have a fairly complete records of mine. I think I am the only one who has a real difficult time linking mine to a Rudolph Shoemaker. Tootsie Shoemaker T. 3. Several Myer children (of Peter Myer) moved to Licking Co. OH from Allegany Co. MD around 1813 and afterward. I would like to correspond with ones working on this family. My husband is descended from Philip Myer who had a son, Dr. Philip Myer, who was in Fountain Co. IN around 1850 -- married Elizabeth Campbell there in 1846. I will be happy to share any info I have in hopes of "fleshing out" this family and the ancestors of theirs. Peter Myer's (d. 1803) children's names: Henry (who stayed in Allegany Co. MD), Mary who m. Thos. Alberry, Sarah who m. Johann Miller, Margaret who m. William Snook, Charity who m. Archibald Jones, Philip who m. Julianna Ball, Peter who m. Jane Fisher, Rebecca who m. Amos Fisher, John who m. Frances Brown, Jacob H. who m. Nancy Potsie, and Anna who m. Godfrey Fazenbaker. All of these probably did not go to Licking Co. I do know that Philip (1780-1842) who m. Julianna Ball (1786-1861) had the following children: Emily who m. Benjamin Beem, Jonas who m. Mary A. ???, William S. who m. Hannah Kimball, Sarah Ann who m. Woodruff Beals, Jacob Hyson who m. Sarah A. Beem, and Philip (1823-1866) who m. Elizabeth Campbell after he moved to Fountain County, Indiana. Thanks. Eva Walker Myer [email protected]

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DZB.2ACI/2518 Message Board Post: I am researching the NORMAN, POUNDSTONE and KREAGER lines. I have much information from Licking County in the form of census reports, marriage, death/obits, cemetery photographs and city directories. I am specifically looking for information regarding DAVID NORMAN (b. 1843 in Muskingum County) married to ANGELINE POUNDSTONE (b 1841) on March 21, 1867. Born to that union were six children: Annie (b. 7 Feb 1868) Oren (b. 24 Feb 1870) Edith (b. 6 Mar 1872) Eva Bell (b. 1874) Edward (b. 17 Jan 1877) Effie (b. 24 Feb 1878) I have military records for David. He fought with the 31st OVI and was injured in the Battle of Chickamauga; injuries that eventually resulted in an early death. The first record I have of David is an 1860 Census report that lists him with the John Montgomery family as a farmhand. He was 17 years of age. I have found a David Norman born in the 1843 (Muskingum County) to a JOSEPH and JEMIMA (LOAR) NORMAN. However, I have been unable to confirm this line. In addition to the 1850 Census report that lists this family (Joseph, Jemima, George, David, John, James, Elizabeth and Sarah), I have found a newspaper article listed in the Advocate (12 JUL 1853) that orders the Muskingum County Infirmary take charge of Joseph, Jemima, George, John, James, Elizabeth and Sarah, for they are sick and unable to care for themselves. This article makes no mention of a David. I have been unable to find out if this family died or recovered. Therefore any information regarding this family or any other NORMAN family of Muskingum that fits David’s profile or infirmary record information would be of a great assistance. Anyone needing information for the POUNDSTONE, KREAGER and/or NORMAN lines, I’d be happy to share. Thanks, Kat 

I do have some information on many Licking County Poundstones, photographs of gravesites, etc. I am presently focused on David Norman, b 1843 in Muskingum County, OH (my gg-grandfather). He fought with the 31st OVI and was injured in Chickamauga. I have been unable to confirm if Joseph and Jemima (Loar) Norman are in fact the parents of "my" David. I have found an 1850 census that documents (Joseph and Jemima, George, David, John, James, Elizabeth and Sarah). David is the correct age of my ancester and his military records state that he was born in Muskingum County. Additionally, I have a newspaper article in 1853 that orders that Muskingum County Infirmary take charge of the whole family (with the exception of David) for they were too sick and unable care for themselves. I have been unable to verify if this family died and David survived. I first find what I believe to by "my" David in an 1860 census in Madison Twnshp, Licking County as a farmhand with the family of John Montgomery (his age at the time was 17). From that point on, I have his Civil War Military records, census reports and city directories with information regarding the family. David married Angeline Poundstone and had 6 children (Annie, Oren, Edith, Eva, Edward, Effie). David died in 1879. Any assistance with the NORMAN or LOAR lines that could help me verify this family as being connected with David would be greatly appreciated. OR information for the Muskingum/Zanesville Infirmary might be of assistance as well. THANKS :)

    2. My grandmother, Pansy Livingston, is 93 now. We were talking this weekend and she remembered being told as a child that if she were not good, she would be sent to the reformatory like "Maw Devoll". She does not know of any Devolls in her family nor of whom they were speaking. I ask because our Goerge W. Levingston was married and had a daugher. Lucinda Levingston (Whilley). On Lucinda's death certificate her mother is listed as Martha Devoll or Debolt. Has anyone heard of a "Maw Devoll" that was sent to the reformatory? Terri Farrow -- WOW! 3. Hi! I'm interested if anyone out there is researching the Husband family. My relations in this county are an uncle named William born 1803 in Virginia, probably Berkeley County. (Now WVA) I don't know exactly when he got into the county. In 1840 William is listed in the Muskingum County census with his brothers James and Andrew. I can't find him in 1850. From 1860 until his death in 1886, he lived in Licking. Some of his children continued to live in the county until well into the 20th century. He had a daughter named Martha who remained single all her life. She probably died between 1900 and 1910. Another daughter Sarah married someone named Worley and probably died in Preble County, OH after 1910. Thanks in advance for any help! Robert Schneider
