Are there many resources available at the Hamner room that is not available on-line? I have actually been there a couple of times, but it has been quite a few years ago. Bruce, My apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I try to answer the same day, but somehow your email was missed. A few years ago the Hamner Room was moved into what had been the large meeting room. This approx. tripled the space available, and that is getting full, so yes,. there is a wealth of information that is not on line. Microfilming and digitizing is an ongoing project at the courthouse, and they send a copy of the microfilms whenever a new batch is available. The Probate Court area just doesn't have enough room to provide a secure ( for both the records and researcher) room. As in all courthouses, security is on everyone mind, and since it is probate Juvenile, there are often rather strong emotions in play. Kids in trouble and custody stuff. There has been a strong effort to expand the collections, especially records from counties and areas that contributed large groups who moved to Law. Co. There are a lot of new family histories, and quite a bit of new equipment.
