    1. Josiah and Joannah Lambert descendants
    2. Hello listers. Here's another of my family lines. Josiah Lambert was born in NJ about 1742. In July 1766, in Monmouth Co., NJ, he married Joannah Woodward of Hunterdon Co., NJ. She was born about 1745. Josiah died about 1820, and Joannah about 1825, both in Upper Twp, Lawrence Co. Josiah served in the navy during the American Revoluntionary War. He has a DAR marker in Woodland Cem. in Ironton. The grave was there from an earlier location. In the 1790, the family was in Harrison Co., VA (near current Clarksburg, WV). About 1798 the family sold the land they had in VA and headed down the Ohio River. One source says they went as far west as Maysville, KY. They are said to have found the best lands there already claimed, so worked their way back upriver to the area now between Hanging Rock and Ironton. They were in OH by 1802 or 03. Josiah and Joannah were the parents of: Joseph b. ca 1768, m Ruth Hull, 1791 Harrison Co, VA Mary b. ca 1771, m Charles Hull, 1791 Harrison Co, VA Johathan b. ca 1772, more later**** Susannah b. ca 1776, m John Davisson, 1796 Harrison Co, Va Richard b. ca 1778, m Nancy Carpenter, 1804 Scioto Co, OH Hannah b. ca 1780, m James Hull, 1798 Harrison Co, VA Anna b. ca 1780, m Noah Clark, 1798 Harrison Co, VA Priscilla b. ca 1784, m Charles Wilson, 1833 Lawrence Co, OH Abagail b. ca 1784, m John Kelley, 1804 Scioto Co, OH Most of the children and spouses came to OHIO My direct line is through Jonathan. He married Margaret McFarlin in Jan 1797 in Harrison Co, VA. Margaret is reported to be a daughter of John Bennett McFarlin/McFarland and Elizabeth Hughes of VA. I have not been able to prove this, but several things combined to support this. John Bennett MccFarland was a Revoluntionary War Vet., who served and was a prisioner at the siege at Charleston, SC. He collected a pension. Jonathan and Margaret had the following children: Thomas b. 1798 more later** Elizabeth b. 1799 more later** John b. 1801 d. 1855 Lawrence Co Elias b. 1802 d. 1855 Lawrence Co, m2 Elizabeth Powell, 1828 Greenup Co KY Leandra b. 1804 James b 1806 d. ca 1866, m Maria Cumpston,1827 Lawrence Co Cassandra b. 1810 Samuel b. 1814 I have traced my line to both Thomas and Elizabeth Lambert. Thomas Lambert married Mary Sampson, daughter of Thomas Sampson, in Dec 1814 in Greenup Co, KY. Both fathers signed for the underage marriage. Their third child was Margaret, b. 1822, who married Lewis Rose, son of William and Mary Adkins Rose, in 1838. Their daughter, Emily Jane Rose, married Levi Clark in Aug 1862. Elizabeth Lambert married Cornelius Clark ca 1818. They were the parents of ten, with the youngest son being the Levi Clark who married Emily Jane Rose, his first cousin once removed. Thomas Lambert lived in Aid Twp., across Rt 141 from the Symmes Valley Schools. Cornelius and Elizabeth Lambert Clark also lived in Aid Twp, on Symmes Creek, about halfway between Aid and Arabia. I have a lot of info on these families, but do not have the burial location for Cornelius and Elizabeth Clark. I welcome correspondance with any descendant of any branch of these families. Maybe we can help each other fill in some gaps. Donald R Clark, List Administrator OHLAWREN-L , OHLAWREN-D Email: [email protected]
