    1. Rogers, Shaver (Shaffer, Shafer) , Akers, Pool, Baily and Beatty
    2. I have three groups who moved from North East Tennessee (Sullivan County) or South West Virginia (Washington County) in the 1800s. Two of these three are related. Anyone else researching them ? 1) George W. Rogers (1822-1889) and wife, Margaret Ann Beatty. They were parents of eight children the eldest of which were born in Washington County, VA while the youngest were born in Lawrence County, OH. These were: Jonathan (1843-1919); Stephen (1844-1920); William W. (1848-1884); Zachariah (1850-? I think he died in Civil War as a Union Soldier); Thomas J. W. Rogers (1854-?); Martha (1858-?); Ulyssius S. Rogers; George Rogers (1868-?). These folks lived in the Burlington area. 2) Spicy Jane Shaver (Shafer or Shaffer by they time they came to Ohio). She was born about 1822 and died sometime prior to 1900. She was married to Squire Shaver who died in Lawrence County between 1860-1870. Parents of Andrew M. Shafer (b. 1843); Eliza J. Shafer (b. 1844 -- I believe she married John Bailey); James Shaver (b. 1846); Nathaniel Shaver (b. 1848 -- Married Martha McMasters); Frances M. Shaver (b. 1850); Dryden P. Shaver (b. 1852 -- Was the "P" for Phillip?); Sarah R. E. Shaver (b. 1856, married Joshua Day); Nancy Shaver (b. 1860). Spicy was related to George W. Rogers -- likely a sister or Aunt. 3) Several of the children of William and Margaret Akers moved to LawCo in mid 1800s. These include James Akers (b. 1836); Susan Akers (b. 1838) w ife of Hardy Pool); Elizabeth Akers (b. 1841) and Thomas Claiborne Akers (b. 1846). Any info or pointers are appreciated. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Sat, 24 Dec 2005 01:14:14 EST Subject: [OHLAWREN] Season's Greetings from the list administrator Merry Christmas, Happy New Years, Happy Holidays, etc. (Whatever seasonal greetings suits you personally) I hope that 2005 has been a successful years for each of you. There are 160+ subscribed to the list, and about 60 to the digest. Compared to some of the lists I monitor, the Lawrence county list has been very quiet during December. Let's all try to help each other by starting 2006 with a list of the families we are researching. Please always remember to write an effective subject line to go with your messages. List the Surnames or specific families of individuals listed in you message. This makes it easier for others to save time, and will help those searching the archives. There are many helpful people on this list, who are willing to do look ups in the publications they have on hand, and I wish to thank each of them for their efforts. If you want to send thanks to someone, try to remember to click on the right address, and send that thank you to the individual, not the whole list. While helpful people deserve a show of appreciation, the archives are full of that sort of message, and they don't really help forward anyones research. On the subject of sending your messages to the right person, when you respond to a query that has been forwarded from the Message Board, you have to go to the URL listed in the message to make sure your response gets to the person who posted the original message. Clicking on the reply button only sends your answer back to this list. In addition to being the administrator for this list, I wear two other hats in the genealogy world. I am the Athens District Trustee on the Board of the Ohio Genealogical Society. The district includes: Athens, Gallia, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, and Vinton counties. I am also the Corresponding Secretary and Newsletter Editor for the Lawrence County Genealogical Society. We are OGS Chapter 74. I will be helping on the registration desk at the 2006 OGS Annual Conference, April 27-29, in Toledo. You can go to _www.ogs.org_ (http://www.ogs.org) for conference info. I'll also be in the vendor area, helping man a table with Lawrence County publications. I hope to have publications from all six chapters in the district and I hope to meet some of you there.
