    3. Dear Linda, I am glad to see that you are working on our Rices. Richard Nelson Rice, son of William and Sarah (LYNAM) Rice is my great-grandfather. He had brothers Charles W. Rice, Thomas Jefferson Rice (Jeff), and David. They had a sister Lucinda (Rice) Clarkston. My mother's mother was Fannie (Rice) Malone the daughter of Richard Nelson Rice and Rachel (Neal) Rice. She said that her mother talked much about her grandmother Sarah (Lynam) Rice. Sarah took turns staying with her children. But she never mentioned William Rice. I have no idea why they were not living together. I always thought it may be that they were very poor. The house that Sarah lived in in 1860 with her three sons seems to belong to Charles W. My mother talked often about her great-uncles Charles W. and Thomas Jefferson. She said very little about David and nothing about Lucinda. I think it was because David and Lucinda moved to Lawrence Co. KY. David died there in 1901 and Lucinda d. around 1913/1916. I am working on a history of my Rice family. If you want to ask questions, and if I know the answer, I will be glad to answer. By the way, I got my copy of your history, and enjoyed it very much. I love Lawrence and Gallia Counties and know many people there.
