What I was asking about was the possibility of closing the gateway by which queries sent to the message board also are posted to this list. There are some good queries, but there are also a lot of items that are just one person thanking another for some info. The message boards don't make it easy to send those thanks directly to the person being thanked. I do not understand how anyone can expect to do effective genealogy research, and get cooperation from others, while keeping themselves anonymous. If you have been reading the responses to my posting, you have seen most responders wanting to keep the gateway open.
