    1. [OHLAWREN] Holiday greetings from your list admin
    2. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to each of you. If for any reason you do not choose to celebrate Christmas, Happy Holidays. I hope 2007 has been a successful year, with some progress on your genealogy research, and possibly a brick wall or two knocked down. This list has been very quiet most of the year, with most of the traffic being the gatewayed messages for the Message board. Since so many of those are short answers to questions that weren't repeated, or thank yous to someone, I have been tempted to shut down the gateway. Another problem with the gateway is that (at least on AOL) the address of the person who posted the message isn't available, so the only way to respond is by going to the Message Board web page and posting a response there. I do know that once in a great while an interesting and possible useful item comes thru the gateway, so I am asking for a responce from you list members. Do you want to continue to get the gatewayed messages, or should I shut it down? If you want the list to be more helpful, try posting info or a query about a family line occasionally. If everyone on the list posted every month or two, we all would learn more about the families who have lived in Lawrence Co. As part of the Lawrence County Genealogical Societies preparations for the 2008 Ironton Memorial Day Parade, I am asking for info on any Lawrence County ancestors who served in WWI, and especially on any who died while in service. In past years we have honored Revolumtionary War Vets, War of 1812 vets, Civil War Vets, and Spanish American War Vets. We also celebrated some of the earliest churches. If you have never come to Ironton to for the annual parade, 2008 would be a good. I think this will be the 140th year. The parade goes on, rain or shine, taking between 1.5 and 2 hours to pass. 3. Don, I feel somewhat the same as you, but tend to lean toward keeping the list going. Occasionally, though rarely, a post comes across which leads to some relevant information or a connection with someone I wouldn't likely otherwise locate. At its very best, we can't really expect posted information to be a continuous flow of beneficial information for anyone. But you, after all, are the one who has to take care of the necessary gritty maintenance work. At least, I do get the email addresses of the senders. Henry S.
