He was born in about 1825 and married Elizabeth. Their first five children (Zachariah, Ann, Luvenia, Jenna, and Samuel) were born in Virginia. The next seven, beginning in about 1861 (Reuben, George, David, Charles, Joseph, Mahala, and Robert) were born in Lawrence County between 1861 and 1875.
