To Lunsford list and Jerry, & Charlotte and Robert, I also have Lunsford's of Cabell Co, WV and Lawrence Co, OH in my family tree. So, I am hoping that maybe one or the other of you may recognize one of my generations and we can work together to improve our knowledge of our Lunsford families. Here is my Lunsford lineage in as much detail as possible, I have marked anything that is NOT PROVEN as such so that it is acknowledged. I will begin at the closest generation to me and work back in time, there is no telling where we may intersect. I will post as much info, including other children as I have in my files. My GRANDMOTHER; Myrta Lunsford born Oct 1884 in Huntington, Cabell Co, WV, She was married to Charles F BIAS. Myrta's parents were; Gordon Lunsford born 3 Sep 1856 in WV or OH? He died Oct 1922 in Huntington, Cabell Co, WV, he was married to Cenna Clarona SHY. They lived in Huntington most of their lives, Gordon was the superintendent of Sunday School at the Fifth Street Baptist Church there in Huntington for years. The other children (besides Myrta) of Gordon & Clarona (SHY) LUNSFORD were; 1. Abigail "Abby" Lunsford, she never married 2. Alverdia "Verdie" Lunsford, she never married 3. Edward Gordon Lunsford, he died as a child 4. Ezra Morton "Zeke" Lunsford he married Katherine McIdahl, they ended up living in Calif. Parents of Gordon Lunsford; William Lunsford born 22 Nov 1831/33 in OH, KY, or OH? he died Oct 1915 in Lawrence Co, OH. He married Martha A. Morris born Nov 1842, she died Sep 1911 in Lawrence Co, OH. William and Martha were married in Wayne Co, WV and lived for a time in Cabell Co, WV, before settling in Lawrence Co, OH. The other children (besides Gordon Lunsford) were; 1. Percival Lunsford 1857-1939 he married Missouri Belle Bruce and they lived in Ironton, Lawrence Co, OH. 2. Sarah Lunsford born and died in 1860. 3. Mary E. Lunsford 1861-1924 she married Dock Miller, they lived in Ironton, Lawrence Co, OH 4. Elizabeth "Willie" Lunsford 1863-? She married Will Henry, that is about all I know about her family 5. Bertha Lunsford, 1865/66 - 1887, she married Charles F Towne, they are both buried in Woodland Cemetery in Ironton, Lawrence Co, OH 6. Isabella Lunsford 1867-1909, she married Thomas Johnson, they are buried in Woodland Cemetery in Ironton, OH 7. Martha Lunsford, 1871- ? she married a ? Hamlin, that is all I know about her family 8. Alice Lunsford 1875- ? she married Robert Cleary and they are buried in Woodland Cemetery in Ironton, OH 9. Minnie Lunsford 1877- ? no spouse info, nothing else for her 10. Cora Lunsford 1880- ? she married William Weyersmiller, hads daughter Ernestine Weyersmiller. 11. Nora Lunsford, 1884- ? she married John E Amour. The NEXT generation back the parents of William Lunsford and Martha Morris the following is ALL I have for them, >From their marriage record I know that William Lunsford's father was ALSO a WILLIAM Lunsford, (same info is on the death record for William in 1915) and on the marriage record is has for the mother of William only the letter "L" and on the death record for William in 1915 it has that his mother was Martha DAY..which is correct, I tend to accept the marriage license as William's brother, Andrew Lunsford on his marriage record it also states that his parents were Wm & "L" Lunsford..in the margin of that record someone has written "Lucinda as the mother's given name..but I have NO IDEA by whom or when this annotation was written) it is also conjectured that the mother of William and Andrew Lunsford may Martha Lucinda Day or Lucinda Martha Day...the only record for support of the Martha Day name is the death record of William. As the death record was filled out by a member of yet another generation, I tend to accept the marriage record as that info was supplied by 2 of her sons, and they SHOULD have known their own mother's given name. Maybe the name Martha Day was for a SECOND wife of their father, William Lunsford. Well that is All I can tell you for sure, except that William Lunsford SR (father of William and Andrew was born abt 1816 in maybe OH, based on census records of he and his sons) IF anyone out there recognizes any of these people, please contact me...THIS IS a MAJOR BRICK WALL for me...I would love to be in contact with other family of Lunsford..share photos, info and documents to assist all of us in rounding out our family.
