The Athens District Chapters of OGS (Athens, Gallia, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, and Vinton) and the Scioto, Pike and Ross Co Chapters of OGS, are sponsoring a genealogy workshop, on Sat. Oct 25, in the Bob Evans Farms Hall of the University of Rio Grande. Registration starting at 8 am with the first session at 9am. Morning Sessions: 1. Safely and Effectively using the internet 2. Choosing a genealogy program; with small groups to demonstrate several of the most popular and show how to get started and/or answer questions. Lunch at the university cafeteria or any of the local restaurants Afternoon Sessions: Overview of Ohio Records followed by small groups to talk about specifics for each of the nine counties. Each person may visit several of the county level groups There will be a handout with a summary of each counties research guide. There is a nominal fee to cover expenses, with a discount for members of the nine sponsoring chapters.
