I believe my reply to your post may have gotten lost in the void, so I'm reposting just in case. First of all, thanks so much for all your help! My gr-grandfather Washington A. Gilliland's grave is marked with a headstone "W. Gilliland" noting his CW service with Co. A, 1st Ohio Heavy Artillery. He is buried in the Mann family plot, as his daughter Ada married into the Mann family. Washington Gilliland was born to George and Julina Canter Gilliland in Hamilton Twp of Jackson County, and lived only the last few years of his life in South Point, where he was employed as a bridge watchman. According to the index and map I have, these are the grave numbers: W. Gilliland, #41 Ada Mann, #42 Frank J.
