Arabia "Mr. Richards, Gibbons, and Thomas were entertained by their co-laborer, BAZIL LUNSFORD last Tuesday night; a good time for Mr. L. to show them the need of a new road from Arabia to Wilgus." History Of Early Times Ironton Tribune May 12 & 19, 1904. "Concerning the origin of names of various branch creeks from trivial incidents." "...A north branch of Buckeye is called LUNSFORD'S Branch. Gallia Co. Mattina PATTON dismissed by letter. Sand Fork Church is situated at the forks of Camp Creek Rd. and the pike that leads from Camdus to McDaniel's crossroads. The church was admitted into the Salem Association in 1820. Hannah PATISON (a possible spelling variant of Payton) listed as a Sand Creek Church member, circa 1850 PAYTON---James & Polly. 1831. Early Days in Symmes. By John T. Irwin. "There has been considerable growth since 1827. Several new families have moved in from Virgina. They seem to have the push and go in them. We were making sugar when a man by the names of Isreal Rose came to get father to go up on Buckeye to old UNCLE JAMES PAYTON's to marry him and POLLY PAYTON, as father was a Justice of the Peace at the time. The contract was that father should go and say the good words for 75 cents, and that he was to come soon in the morning, so he and his new wife could make sugar enough that day to settle the marriage bill. That was in February, 1831." PEYTON---Perry & W.F. History Of Early Times "...On the west side in section 12, T. 4, R. 17 is Aaron's Creek, so named for Old Capt. Aaron, a celebrated hunter who was here while the Indians hunted here. He had his camp there. The first branch from the north was called Perry's, named for PERRY PEYTON who owned at the mouth of it." ( no year/decade is given). "Wild Cat Branch of the Ice Creek comes in near W.F. Half brother of Charles Johnson. Father living at Mt. Vernon Furnace. Placed with Mrs. Striblin, Mercer's Bottom, WV 8 Sept. 1903. --------------------- PAYTON--- "Edward Butler admitted 6 April 1875. Born 11 July 1871. All returned to mother 28 Aug. 1875. Eddie readmitted from Infirmary & Elizabeth Twp.. Taken by ANTHONY PAYTON 18 April, returned to the Home 22 July 1879." "Robert Spradling admitted 6 Dec. 1878. Indentured to ANTHONY PAYTON, Etna Furnace 22 July 1879." "Charlie Markins admitted 17 Feb. 1897. Father, F.M. Markins. Mother, FRANCIS PAYTON. Charlie born 1 Jun 1890. Sent to Children's Hospital for crooked ankles and feet." "John Markins admitted 17 Feb. 1897. Same parents as above. Admitted from Lawrence Twp. Born 17 April 1888. Mother FRANCIS PAYTON died in Oct. of 1895, the father married again and the wife abused the children shamefully. All the children were sick and afflicted with all sorts of skin trouble. All returned to father 19 May 1899. Charles and sister Lovie returned to the Home 16 Nov. 1900, step mother at the Infirmary, father in jail." "Lovie Markins. Same parents as above. Born 2 June 1892. Had scarlet fever in Spring of 1905. Lovie, though almost five was a helpless baby, wearing no.2 baby shoes, the doctor said her limbs had "Infantile paralysis". Given to her father 3 June 1908, being sixteen." "May Markins. Same parents as above. Born 14 June 1895. Died of TB 6 April." PEYTON--- "James Ellsworth Bridge admitted 8 May 1885. Born 6 April 1878 at Ironton, OH. Taken to Mr. PEYTON, Huntington, WV 31 Aug. 1887 recommended by J.T. Higgins.Article of agreement signed, returned and filed." "Bonnie Stamper admitted 1920. Bonnie was placed with Mr. K. PEYTON of Aid, OH and was later returned to the Home in Dec. 1923. ---No Lunsfords or Momans of any spelling listed.     3. My 3rd Great Grandmother was Nancy Delilah Lunsford b 18 Nov 1819, d 10 Apr 1895 and buried in Virginia. Nancy Delilah Lunsford married (11 Apr 1839 Lawrence, Ohio) William Allen Boggs b 28 Sep 1815 in Gallia, Gallia, Ohio, d 11 Dec 1899. I don't have any more information about Nancy Delilah Lunsford, other than her mother was a Hudson. William Allen Boggs' parents were Andrew Elliott Boggs II b 1768 in Pennsylvania, d 20 Aug 1840 in Perry Township, Gallia, Ohio, married (6 Jan 1794 Greenbriar County, Virginia) Hannah Jane Bowen b 1778 Greenbriar, Virginia, d after 1845, Lawrence, Ohio. Her parents were Anthony Bowen and Alice Hamilton. Any further information would be greatly appreciated.
