    2. Carrie, Please try http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=P for records...........it lists William and Martha Day as parents of child William who died 1915 in Ironton, for example......... -----Original Message----- From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: OHLAWREN-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Fri, 7 Nov 2008 1:50 pm Subject: Re: [OHLAWREN] William Lunsford This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Was it in someone's online family tree? The reason I am asking is the following source info. When William Lunsford married Martha Morris in Wayne Co, VA (WV) on 2 Nov 1855 he gave the names of his parents as Wm and L Lunsford. When William's brother, Andrew Lunsford married Ellenor Haws in Wayne Co, WV on 24 Jan 1859 he ALSO gave his parents names as Wm & L Lunsford. Neither son listed their mother as M or Martha......As they themselves gave this info, I have to give it weight. SO that is why I am still trying to verify the mother of William & Andrew Lunsford. The ONLY document I am aware of that lists Martha Day as the mother of William Lunsford is his own death certificate, and that information was filled in by his daughter, Alice Lunsford Cleary. As she was 2 generations removed from the mother of her dad, William, I question the accuracy of the info against the L that was stated by both sons, William & Andrew in their marriage licenses. Is it possible that L died and William Sr remarried to a Martha Day???? That would be one explanation. Or did Martha Day have a given or middle name that began with a L? Back to the actual name of Lucinda, on the marriage record of Andrew Lunsford he had given the names as Wm & L Lunsford and SOMEONE had written into the margin of that record the name Lucinda....is it valid, I have no idea. But the L as mother of William and Andrew, as given personally by them, is still the most credible record thus far as to the name of their mother. It is all so confusing.....I am now ging to go through ALL census records for all states for 1850 and see if I can find a William and Andrew (brothers) that fit the correct timeline of their births. Maybe they were not living in OH in 1850?? Let me know if you found the info for Martha Day being the mother in a family tree or in a record somewhere.....records are what I am looking for. I have NOT ever been able to locate the marriage record for William Sr and Martha Day anywhere. Also the 1816 birth for WIlliam Sr is supposition there are no records, as yet, that support that info. If I am able to find an 1850 census with the brothers, William and Andrew, with their father William Sr the age of William Sr will at least give us a guide to when he may have been born. THANK YOU so much for all the time you took in researching with your response, are you descended from this Lunsford family?
