Obit appears in the Ironton Tribune Thursday 6-3-1943 as follows: PROCTORVILLE MAN DIES SUDDENLY, AFTER ACCIDENT. James Henry Edward, 72, died at 9:00 o'clock Wednesday night at his home at Proctoville, route 1 of a heart attack believed to have resulted from an accident suffered Wednesday morning. Mr. Edwards was chopping wood when the axe glanced off a log and struck him in the head. This happened at 9:00 o'clock Wednesday morning and he suffered the heart attack 12 hours later. He is survived by his widow, Ida Edwards and the following children: Mrs. Effie Ward, Columbus, Mrs. Elizabeth McComas, Proctorville; Mrs. Gusta Watts, Crown City; Iva Edwards, Huntington, Mollie and Nellie Edwards at home and a son, Alda Edwards of Huntington. The body will be taken from the Hall Funeral Home to the residence at 7:00 o'clock this evening. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon t 2:00 o'clock at Beulah Baptist Church by the Rev. Could not locate the date of death for Ida Jarvis Edwards although one source on line indicates in 1958? He was born March 15, 1909, and was the son of the late Jim Henry and Ida Jarvis Edwards. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Carpenter Edwards; and one son Norman Edwards. Survivors include one daughter Mrs. Kenneth (Louise) Pruitt of Columbus; three sons Raymond Edwards, Donald Edwardds and Bobby Edwards, all of Proctoville; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and four sisters, Effie Snowden of Goshen, Iva Rucker of Portland, Tenn., Mollie Estep of Wayne, W.Va. and Augusta Bruner of Proctorville. Services are Thursday 1 p.m. Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville, with the Rev Okla Judd officiating. Burial was at McCormick Cemetery near Proctorville. No further information MYRA AUGUSTA EDWARDS born 8 February 1922 Lawrence County, Ohio per obituary which appeared in Ironton Tribune Thursday 7-15-1999 which reads as follows: MYRA BRUNER Feb 8 1922 - July 14 1999: Myra Augusta Bruner, 77, of Proctorville, died Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, W.VA. The Lawrence County native was born Feb 8 1922, the daughter of the late James Henry and Ida Belle Jarvis Edwards. She was the wife of Charles "Red: Bruner who survives. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one son, James F. Watts of Chesapeake; two sisters, Effie Snowden of Goshen, and Mollie Estep of Wayne, WV; and one granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Watts. Funeral will be 1 p.m Saturday at Hall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crown City Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. EDWARDS born 17 August 1924 and died 4 December 1998 in Portland Tenn. Obituary appeared in Ironton Tribune 7 Dec 1998 as follows: IVA RUCKER Aug 17 1924 - Dec 4 1998- Portland, Tenn -Iva J. Rucker, 74, of Portland died Friday at Tennessee Christian Medical Center in Portland. She was born Aug 7 1924, the daughter of the late James Henry and Ida Belle Edwards. She was the wife of the late Robert R. Rucker. Survivors include three sons, Roger Rucker of Scottow, Ohio, Rick Rucker of Benson, N.C., and Randy Rucker of Riverton, Wyo. four daughters, Lula Davis, Betty Timmons, Debra White and Rhonda Hill, all of Portland; three sisters, Effie Snowden of Goshen, Ohio, Augusta Brynner of Proctoville, Ohio and Mollie Estep of Wayne ,WVa, 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Obituary appeared in the Ironton Tribune on Friday 8-22-1930 as follows: CHILD CHOKED TO DEATH ON GREEN APPLE> James Paul Edwards, three year old son of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Edwards of Rome, O., choked to death about 5:30 Wednesday evening while eating green apples. Funeral services were held this morning at 10:00 o'clock by Rev. Hardin. Burial was in Rome Cemetery under direction of Undertaker Schneider of Chesapeake. The child is survived by his parents, six brothers and one sister. (End) Note: His DC indicates he was 3 yrs 2 mos 21 days old. so you should be able to figure out his birth. His father is identified as James Henry Edwards and his mother as Ida Jarvis. Info by James H. Edwards of Proctoville. There is a record of a male child born 5-30-1927 in Proctorville, Rome Twp but his name is not given. This is perhaps him. NELLIE MAY EDWARDS born 15 March 1929 Rome Twp., Proctoville NOTE; I believe from what I can ascertain that EFFIE SNOWDEN is still living in Goshen, OH/ The search indicates that this person was born Feb 1917 and is living at 6887 Wes Curt Ln (??_, Goshen, Ohio 45122 Tele 513-624-7181 (This may very well be her. I attempted to call today but did not get an answer) Perhaps she can provide a lead on the death and burial for IDA. Will follow this up with census records tomorrow.
