Edmund Sumpter born 1814 in Lawrence County and believed to be the son of Richard Sumpter and his wife Isa Smith. Edmund married Nancy Snell in Lawrence County in 1831. their daughter Margaret Ann was the wife of James Freeman and they married in 1855 in Lawrence County. Jacob Cornell was the son of James Cornell and his wife Rebecca Hill. The Cornells were appearing on the records in Gallia County by 1816. Jacob married Mary Ellen McCaffrey in Lawrence County in 1864. Benjamin Brown and his wife Nancy Bartram were originally from Cabell County but were in Lawrence County by the 1830 Census. Thomas Stapleton was born in Johnson County KY. He and his wife Margaret Jane Cyrus Rutherford arrived in Lawrence County in the 1860s.
