Thanks fkb, I forgot to mention that Marta did find that, too. But what I'm really wondering about is where they were married, and why so many genealogists tend to believe it was Lawrence County. What with the Lawrence Register online site, and Gallia County Marriage books put out by the genealogical society, plus searching Cordelia, Malissa, every conceivable spelling of the Eachus name (and some not so conceivable), I've just come up empty. I'm always amazed at the amount of knowledge the people on these two forums have, and their willingness to help, so I thought I'd throw my question out. I know there are people on both sides of the Ohio here and I was just wondering how easy it is to research marriage records in Boyd and Greenup County for Dec. 28, 1859. I was also curious if there are any Dempseys still in Lawrence County who might know if Andrew S. was ever over in the Bedford County PA area. I would like to get in touch with someone from the Dempsey family who might be able to help me identify a photograph (portrait) of a Dempsey. Originally I thought the name on the was E.O. Dempsey, (unfortunately I don't have the original as it belonged to a family member), but I believe it was misidentified and it's really E.A. Dempsey (Eliza Ann, the one born in 1867 and died in 1958). From her facial appearance I'd say she's in her 30s to 40s which would place it in the last decade of the 19th or first of the 20th century, the dress also matches other family photographs that I have of that era. Anyway, thanks for looking that up and typing it up. Linda. > > Think this is your family. Lawrence County History Book 1990 > Andrew Jackson Dempsey was born in VA Feb. 11, 1833.
