Thanks Nancy. I got sidetracked for a few days because hubby has been home on vacation all week and my computer time has been all broken up, so I forget where I left off. I have some answers here and also more questions. I can access Heritage Quest from here at home and was able to find some census data, but that only gets you so far. I found the Lawrence Register article about Benjamin Boggs and was very interested because the Nelson's mentioned in there are mine. I'd like to know how to find any information about John Nelson's time in the Revolutionary War now that I've read that article. John Nelson was Solomon and Benjamin's father, and Solomon Nelson is my direct ancestor through his son Josiah R. Nelson. Josiah was born January 01, 1821 in Gallipolis, Gallia Co., OH, and died December 12, 1909 in Galesburg, Knox Co., IL. Solomon and Eleanor "Nellie" McGraw were married ~1810 in Virginia and had several kids in VA before coming to Ohio. SOLOMON NELSON was born February 28, 1789 in Virginia, and died November 14, 1846 in Madison Co., Indiana. His wife ELEANOR MCGRAW was born ~1788 in unknown Possibly Virginia or Maryland, and died August 02, 1845. They're both buried in the Nelson Cemetery, Richland Twp., Madison Co., Indiana. Sarah Nelson who married Pellington Merritt is a dtr of Solomon. I belive Mahaley, Mary and Matilda must be dtrs of Benjamin, because they aren't in my list of Solomon's children. I did know that my Solomon and his brother Benjamin were early settlers in Symmes Twp having come there from VA after ~1810. Yes, the Benjamin Nelson who married Delphena Miller is the brother to my Solomon Nelson. My line of Nelson's were in Madison Co, IN. in the 1840 census, so not surprised nothing was found for them after that date. Solomon Nelson as GRANTOR in Lawrence Co. NELSON, Solomon; COULTER, Adam; 8; 360; 6 Aug 1835 NELSON, Solomon; IRWIN, George; 6; 484; 3 Jun 1834 Solomon Nelson as GRANTEE in Lawrence Co. NELSON, Solomon; MCDANIEL, Ephraim; 6; 135; 10 Nov 1833 NELSON, Solomon; SHUMATE, Daniel; 6; 134; 19 Jan 1833 How can I get lookups in these different land books to see how much more information there is about these transactions between Solomon Nelson and the ppl he sold/purchased land? BOGGS, Alexander & Mahaley (Nelson) married ca 1830 in Lawrence Co. A son born ca 1831-32 went to live with his uncle, Henry Nelson, after both parents were dead by 1839. Did they die in Lawrence Co., if so, where and where are they buried? John Nelson, the father of Solomon and Benjamin was a Revolutionary War soldier in VA. It's said that John Nelson died and is buried in Lawrence Co. Is that true? Can anyone check? What about his wife Sarah Stearns? Is she also buried in OH? Thanks, Sue
