Not to get too far on a tangent, but my grandfather and some of his siblings who lived in Jackson and Lawrence Counties in the early 1900s lived with a family whom my grandmother thought may have been Sipes or Sites. All she could remember was that she thought there was a lady named Velma or Thelma in the household where my grandfather was living as a young un. Does this name show up anywhere in your family research on the Sites surname? His father wasn't much of a father to any of them so they all went somewhere other than home. Forty years later my grandfather's brother finally went to visit his father after they had moved to West Virginia (Mingo County).
