    1. [OHLAWREN] MORRISON, Susan, b ca. 1835, OH
    2. Nancy Edwards
    3. Who are the parents of Susan MORRISON shown as a 15 yo on the 1850 Census in the home of Richard and Mary MORRISON in Union Twp, Lawrence Co, OH? Some have suggested she might be another dau of Richard and Mary MORRISON. Others are unsure of this. Does anyone know for sure? I've been unable to track her with certainty after the 1850 Census. Is she the same person as the Margaret S. MORRISON who married Harvey PRICHARD 1854 in Lawrence Co? And then is she the same person as the Susan PRITCHARD who married William L. BOYNTON in Lawrence Co in 1857? These have been suggested as possibilities by a couple of folks, but nothing has been verified to my knowledge. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks for the help. 1. [OHLAWREN] BAGLEY, Ranselaer (& variant spellings), b. ca. 1820, VA>OH - 1850 Census help
    2. Nancy Edwards
    3. Would someone be so kind as to help me find this family on the 1850 Census? My head is spinning from searching the other Census years, and I'm going in circles on this 1850 Census. They are in Union Twp, Lawrence Co on the 1860, 1870 and 1880 Census reports. However, Ranselaer's given name has been found spelled Renceler, Rinedes, Rausalin, Renssalier among many spellings. And the surname has been found as Bayley, Bagely and Bagley. So - taking that into consideration, here's the family I'm searching on the 1850 Census - presumably Lawrence Co., OH: Bagley, Ranselaer (?sp?) b VA ca. 1820 ____ Mary b OH ca. 1820 ____ Nancy A. b OH ca. 1843 ____ William Henry b OH 1846 ____ James M. b OH ca. 1850 (may or may not be born when Census enumerated) Thanks so much for any assistance. 1. Re: [OHLAWREN] IF YOU KNOW THE COUNTY HOW DO YOU FIND CITY????
    2. Viola, I would be happy to do some research on this, but you didn't include any dates. Any date or date range tied to a specific event in their life to give a starting point: i.e. a census, birth, death etc. About the only way to come up with a town as regards a marriage, is to track the location where the minister or J.P. lived, and assume the marriage took place at or near his home. The records don't show the location of the marriage. If it was written up in the newspaper it might give a location Don Clark In a message dated 1/16/2009 4:21:36 P.M. 1. [OHLAWREN] Sumpter family of Lawrence County
    2. I have collected a lot of "tidbits" on the Sumpters of Lawrence County. Since there isn't that many of this surname in the county I believe them to be one family. I believe this is the way the Sumpter lineage goes but since most of it is before the 1850 census when children were named I need proof. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Richard Sumpter is listed in the 1818 tax records of Lawrence County. He is in 1820-1850 census records for Union Township in Law. Co. He is shown to have been born in VA. I have found a Richard Sumpter who married in 1800 in VA to Mary Kingery. Also there is a marriage in 1813 in Gallia County Records for a marriage by a Richard Sumpter. I believe the children of Richard are as follows: Edmund Margaret married Daniel H. Markins on Sept. 17, 1831 George married Betsy Adkins March 8, 1833 Polly married William Pigman on Oct 19, 1837 Nancy married Andrew Snell on April 10, 1840 Samuel married Drucilla (or Mary) Adkins on Feb. 18, 1858 Frances married Thomas Markin on July 24, 1817. (they moved to IN) Elizabeth married Martin Earles on Oct 15, 1819 (all of these marriages were in Lawrence Co.) I believe that Edmund is my direct ancestor. The confusion is in the 1860 census. There is an Edmund living with my g-grandmother (after her marriage in 1855) but there is also an Edmund living with a Benjamin Johnston family. The age for one is shown as 46 and the other 52. I do not know if this is one person listed with 2 families and the age is just an error??? There is an Edmund Sumpter who married Nancy Snell on Aug. 21, 1831 in Lawrence Co.. Simeon Sumpter who was born Nov. 24, 1833 and died Jan. 3, 1917 death certificate shows these people as his parents. I believe my g- grandmother Margaret Ann (born about 1835) is the child of theirs also. She named one of her sons Simeon. The confusion is the 2 Edmunds (or is it 1) in the 1860 census. To make this more confusing I cannot locate Margaret or Simeon in an 1850 census. Both did not marry until mid 1850s so should have been at home in 1850 census. Again any help/leads anyone can supply me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    3. Hey there again Lorna - I did remember the "History of Lawrence Co" book this time, but I was trying for something more documented. In other words, I know that some of the info in some of the submissions to the history books come from family lore, and I've been going back through my files and trying to replace unverified info with more formal documentation/sources, if such exists, given that folks are always turning up new evidence in their research. Lorenzo Dow Eaton married Minnie Bay. I have Rebecca Morrison as the probable sister to my gggrandmo, Margaret (Morrison) Eaton who married John P. Eaton. John P. and Lorenzo Dow Eaton are brothers. Sometime in the past we did exchange Morrison info. I only wish I had any pics that old. Lucky you! I agree - we're no doubt cousins of some degree. :) Thanks for your email. 3. I have an interest in CORBIN in Lawrence Co., OH, and as some CORBIN and EARLES married, I do have some information on them on my web site, in the form of linked family group sheets, which you can hook into from Charles's page: http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/FGS/E/EarlesCharles-MaryMartin.shtml I've only actually *researched* the CORBINs. What I have on EARLES I got from WorldConnect, so you probably won't find anything new on my site. 3. Seek to exchange info with anyone researching the Earles family of Lawrence Co., OH. Charles Earles (Dec 1773-28 May 1848) married Mary Martin (c1775-1847) about 1800 in Lee Co., VA. The family moved to Jackson Co., OH in 1815. Also in 1815 a volcano erupted on Mt. 1. [OHLAWREN] Lizzie Gertrude (GARDNER) SPROUSE - date of death?
    2. Nancy Edwards
    3. Does anyone have a dod for Lizzie Gertrude (GARDNER) SPROUSE? It would have been between 1907-1910 based on what I've found so far. She was b 1869 d/o Roswell and Nancy (DELAY) GARDNER and married W. W. SPROUSE who is listed as Wd on the 1910 OH LawCo Rome Twp. Census. Their youngest child was born approx. 1907. On the LawCo Cemetery cd there is a Gertrude G. SPROUSE (1858-1908) buried in the Beulah Bapt. cemetery; however, this is an 11 year discrepancy in the birth year and the SPROUSE I'm researching is Lizzie Gertrude rather than Gertrude G.
