Carl, There are or were 2 Millersports. One in Fairfield Co. Founded by a man named Miller. I used to work with the greatgrandson of that Mr. Miller. There was also one in Lawrence Co., Ohio (on the Ohio River.) It has changed it's name to just Miller and is in Rome Twp. of Lawrence Co., Ohio It is located on Ohio Route 7 between Crown City, Ohio (in Gallia Co., OH) and Athelia (in Lawrence Co., OH.) Since the requester was looking for someone in Lawrence Co, I assume that they wanted the Millersport in Lawrence Co. However, I could be wrong and I shoudn't assume anything. It just seemed logical. Hello All, I have just recently began working on my family's genealogy and am trying to find information about my grandfather Merideth (Pete) Stormes' family. He is from Coal Grove, OH (Lawrence County) and he had 9 or 10 brothers and sisters. His parent's names were Henry Stormes and Earnestine (Ruth)Owens. I have Ruth's side completely done, but the Stormes side has me stumped. I have found out, just recently, that Henry's parents names were Harry Stormes (records say Henry through, but tombstone at woodland cemetery does say Harry) and Debbie (Debra?) Pemberton. I have completed Debbie's family all the way back to the 1500's. I am wondering if Storms Creek in Lawrence Co. was named after the Stormes' of Coal Grove. Any information any of you might have would be GREAT!! Also, if any of you have any information on free genealogy websites that would be great too! I'm just getting started on something my grandmother began but was unable to finish before she passed away. Thanks, Holly
Millersport in Lawrence County, Ohio now goes by the name of Miller. It is about 25 miles south of Gallipolis, Ohio and about 3 miles north of Athelia, Ohio on State Route 7 (which runs along the Ohio River). There is a cemetery there behind the Fire House in Miller on State Route 217. Hope this helps. Hi Don, L-O-N-G time, no chat. I assume that you have heard about our family situation, either by me telling you about it, or through hearing about it from someone else. My genealogy has been on the back burner for the past year after my 6 year-old daughter, Lily, was hit by a car. They didn't know if she would survive, but being the fighter that she is, she is surviving and thriving. She is still in a wheelchair and still has a feeding tube, but is learning to walk again, and she is eating and drinking well. She makes a tiny bit of progress each day! I spend my days taking her to therapy of every kind imaginable and to doctor's appointments, etc. She had brain injuries, and that is what is causing a lot of the remaining issues. Thankfully, her intellect and quick wit were unaffected (as far as we can tell), and so she is still the crazy, fun kid that she always was. Hopefully, she'll be running around like crazy in a year or two. Anyway, I've been pestering Dan Rapp about his close relatives (who are also my relatives) that served in WWII. You just need something like this, right? Bill Rapp, Lieut. Col, U.S. Army :) Do you want dates of birth and death (where applicable) as well? I know that Dan's dad, Bill Rapp, and Dan's uncle, Donald Cox, both served. I'll try to get the information out of Dan. Sometimes extracting that takes a little patience, but it's ALWAYS worth it. Melissa, Don't know anything about the place that you are inquiring about but would be interested in any Bartram information that you would like to share. I show a William Sherman Copley Bartram that was born May 12, 1872; died Jan. 6, 1961. He married an Elizabeth Pyles and have only 2 known children for them Forest Cecil Bartram and Benjamin Franklin Bartram (born Aug 9, 1917; died Jan. 7, 1937). Assuming that this is your ancestor?? William Sherman line ---William--David--Stephen Bartram??? My line is as follows (My g-grandmother's parents were Bartram cousins) Rebecca Jane Bartram (father--Robert--James P.--Stephen; mother--Sarena--Stephen--John P.--Stephen) James P and John P were sons of Stephen Bartram but had different mothers.
