Where is this family on the 1850 Census? Granted, the husband's name as been butchered on other Census schedules, and the surname also indexed incorrectly a couple of times. But I've entered on Ancestry every spelling I've been able to imagine (to this point) , but no luck. I've tried surname only (various spellings), husband's given name with various spellings, kids' given names, but I'm obviously not entering the "magic" words. If anyone researching this family has the info or if anyone is willing to help me out here, I'd be most appreciative. What the correct spelling is for the husband's given name, I have no idea at this point. I'm looking for Ranselear Bagley b 1820 or 1821 in VA or OH, and his second wife, Mary (Eaton) Bagley - b ca 1820 OH -, & they married in LawCo ca 1841-1843 and are on the 1860, 1870, & 1880 Census schedules in LawCo with the following spellings of the husband's given name and surname. Given name of husband has been found with the spellings of Ranselear, Rausalin, Renssalier, Rinedes, Renceler and the surname has been found as Bagley, Bagely, and Bayley. The surname is suppose to be spelled Bagley as far as I know. Children of this couple on the 1860 Census include Nancy A., Wm. H., James M., Isaac, Martin L., Mary J., and Oliver S, and by 1880 there is another daughter, Margaret. Thanks so much for any assistance finding this family in 1850. Regards, Nancy Edwards

Thanks for your quick response to my posting. Yes, John P. and Margaret A. (Morrison) Eaton are my gggrandparents, and I know the Susan on the 1850 Census is not my gggrandmother. What I've been trying to determine for several years now is the relationship of this Susan Morrison on the 1850 Census to Richard and Mary (Brindley) Morrison with whom she is living - or at least she's in the home at the time the Census was done. Is it possible she is another daughter? I do know there are females (?daughters?) with Richard and Mary (Brindley) Morrison on the 1830 and 1840 Census schedules whose identities remain a mystery to me. So when I found the marriage info for a Margaret S. Morrison marrying Harvey Prichard/Pritchard, it just made me start wondering again. Could the middle name of this Margaret S. Morrison be Susan? Why there would be two daughters with the first name of Margaret, I don't know. But I decided to consider anything and everything before starting to rule out. And the other thing that makes this curious is the name of Richard Morrison's second wife (Mary (Brindley) Morrison died in 1853). His second marriage was to a Mrs. Elizabeth Pritchard in Dec 1853, and on the 1850 Census there is an Elisabeth Pritchard and one of her children listed is a 21 yo Harvey(?) - the writing is not real legible. Regarding your reference to a Harvey Prichard on the 1860 LawCo Census married to an Emily Magee, there is (in the OH Marriages, 1803-1900 database on Ancestry), a record for a Harvey Pritchard and Mary Magee marrying in 1856. Perhaps this Mary Magee is the same as the Emily Magee in the 1860 LawCo Census? If so, this would not necessarily rule out this Harvey Prichard/Pritchard as the same person who married Margaret S. Morrison in 1854, since a divorce is also a possibility. There is also a marriage of a Susan Pritchard to William L. Boynton in 1857 in LawCo. Either there is a connection among all these folks, or I'm weaving a mighty web. ; ) So - all of this to say that I'm still trying to find out who is Susan Morrison? Is she possibly the same person as Margaret S. Morrison who married Harvey Prichard in 1854? Is she the youngest daughter of Richard and Mary (Brindley) Morrison? Any and all thoughts, suggestions and info welcome. In the OH Marriages, 1803-1900 Database on Ancestry.com, there is a marriage listed for Margaret S. Morrison to Harvey Prichard on 25 May 1854 in Lawrence Co. Given the number of folks in the area with the surname Pritchard, it's possible that Harvey's surname was misspelled on this marriage record. Does anyone know this Margaret S. Morrison? Could her middle name be Susan? Could she be the same person as the Susan in the home of Richard and Mary Morrison on the 1850 Census in Lawrence Co? Thanks for any assistance, Nancy Edwards

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Claude SHUMATE and his wife which was taken at the Genelli Studio in Sioux City, Iowa. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with the couple in their 30's at the time. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding the couple and their family: Florence Lucinda "Flossie" MULLEN b. 2 Apr 1887 in Red Oak, IA to parents Clark Albert MULLEN (b. 9 Aug 1861 in Rochelle, IL) and Sarah Augusta WEIN NEWMAN (b. 17 Oct 1861 in Jefferson, WI). I'm so disappointed in the clearing of the Henry Cemetery that I could just cry. I drove 6 hours to a family reunion in South point, Ohio and every year I stop by the Henry Cemetery off of Deep cut road and found out they where clearing the cemetery last year, but nothing done this year. What was more disappointing was the fact that they have removed grave markers and a lot of head stones have been broken and throwed in a pile now. Oh how sad this is. :( P.S. There are also many Veteran in this cemetery as will. One from the Ohio Inf., war of 1812. Can't the Veteran Dept. of your area do something ? Linda Reilly

Hi Guys, Hey, I only need one thing. I'm wondering if someone can check any newspapers from around September 29, 1989 and see if there's an obituary for James F. Hixon, who lived in Lawrence County, Ohio but died in Greenup at the hospital. I just posted on the Lawrence County list that James died in Huntington and I just found him in ancestry.com Kentucky Death Index, 1911-2000 about James F Hixon Name: James F Hixon Death Date: 29 Sep 1989 Death Place: Greenup Age: 069 Residence: Ohio Volume: 52 Certificate: 25865 If anyone has the time to just glance at an obituary and see if it names the WWII regiment that he served with I'd be greatly appreciative. I don't need a copy of the obit -- just the regimental information if it is contained therein. He enlisted Oct. 4, 1943 in Huntington, WV [NARA], but alas it doesn't give the regiment or any further details. His nephew believes that he may have been part of the D-Day invasion and would like to know. Thank you, Linda Trent linda_trent@att.net

Hi Guys, A cousin of mine has asked me if I can find out what WWII regiment his uncle was with. Apparently he lived in Gallia County at the time, was married in Lawrence, and lived in Lawrence County after the war. His father was Loren Hixon (the base-ball player). James F. enlisted in Huntington on October 4, 1943. We've already googled him, and we found him in the the NARA AAD site http://tinyurl.com/mkjll2 (National Army Records Administration or something like that), and in Ancestry.com, but so far no regiment number was given. The person we're looking for is James F. Hixon, and he died in Huntington (probably at a hospital) on Sept. 29, 1989, so I'm assuming that his death record would be in Cabell County? According to my cousin James F. was living in Coal Grove at the time. I'm hoping that either the Huntington, Lawrence and/or Gallia County paper will have an obituary that would give his WWII info. Basically what we're interested in is was James F. Hixon present during the D-Day landing? But to determine that we really need his regiment. It is very possible that he may have been with a tank division. This is really important to me because this cousin is doing me a HUGE favor, and I really owe him on this one. :-) Oh yes, James is also buried in Lawrence County. Does anyone have access to anything that might tell a regiment number? The link above also gives his military ID #. Thanks, Linda Trent linda_trent@att.net
