    1. [OHLAWREN] Chisenall
    2. Is anyone researching this family ? In particular, I'm interested in Wilkerson Chisenall (Chisinoll/Chizenal) who served in the USCT (5th). LawCo marriage records show him marrying Nancy Margaret Rogers in the 1860s and his pension record abstract indicate he was born in Wake County, NC (Raleigh). It looks like maybe he had a son, Louis for whom someone filed a dependents pension for from somewhere in VA. Anyone know him ?

    3. Thank you. Merry Christmas to you and family. My Lawrence Co. lines are; BURNS, SMILEY, RHODES. I don't have much, but am fortunate to have a tin-type photo of my gr-gr-grandparents, William BURNS born abt. 1828, and Margaret RHODES, b. abt 1828. The 1860 census shows them in the Ironton Post Office, Elizabeth Twp., Lawrence Co. I'd be happy to share the photo. Their children were; Nancy A., Eden (male), Ebinezer, Willamina, James, Ella, and Frank. All born between 1850 - 1862. I know little about RHODES families. A cousin told me that Margaret RHODES had a twin brother. Your former Governer, James RHODES is supposedly descended from her brother.......not proven. SMILEY's were coal miners at one time in nearby Wellston, Jackson Co. They followed the mines to Farmersburg, Indiana near Terre Haute around 1902. 2. William Perkins married Isabel Veal in Lawrence Co. in 1822. I believe I have the 1820 census for John that lists his family, and if I remember correctly, that was the only Perkins family in the area at that time. I will pull my Perkins file out tonight and see what I have. 3. I support the idea of posting the family names we are working on, so here goes: Currently, I am working on the TAGG surname, Thomas C., James, William and Mary Ann all moved to Lawrence county circa 1840's Thomas C. married Eliza Morton, James married (1) Sarah McComas (2) Nancy Bee (3) Sarah Dillon, William married Eliza ?? and Mary Ann married Rev. James McComas Thomas, James, William, Mary Ann, Eliza, John H., Joseph and Lucy/Lucinda/Lucretia Tagg were the children of James Tagg and Rebecca HEIGHTON.  They emigrated from Kettering Northamptonshire England in 1836 settling in Portage County Ohio, where Rebecca's brother, Thomas Heighton had already settled with their family.  The elder James died in 1845.  Rebecca lived with various of her children until her death in 1868.  Eliza married Lewis V. Stauffer in Portage County in 1850 and died in 1852.  William took over his father's business of painting houses and married Eliza  ??  later moving to Lawrence county circa 1860's.  Lucy/Lucinda/Lucretia disappears from written records after 1838.  I have not been able to find a marriage or death record for her.  Thomas bought land in Lawrence County in 1842 and married Eliza Morton the same year.  I don't have the exact date that the younger James moved to Lawrence county.  I am descended through his first wife, Sarah MCCOMAS whom he married in 1848.  James served in the 91st Infantry during the Civil War.  He and William were twins.  Joseph moved to Memphis Tennessee and opened up a very successful pain and wall paper business. Mary Ann married Rev. James MCCOMAS (brother to Sarah??) and she died circa 1868-1869. Any cousins out there working on these lines?? Kathy Petras Ohio

Bias, Day - both tie into the McComas lines. Day came from AnneArundel/Baltimore/Harford Maryland. The wife's surname may be DAY or may be other....I am not sure of this woman's name at all. The only indication I have is that both of their sons listed parents as Wm and "L" or "S" Lunsford when getting married. Both sons were born between 1831 and 1838, there may have been other siblings, but I have nothing that says there is at the moment. Both sons were born in OH, married in WV, one moved back to OH and the other moved to KY. That is all I know at this time. SO finding a Lunsford/Lunceford marriage for a Wm and a L or S UNKNOWN or possibly to a Martha DAY would go a long way in establishing a direction and location for my research. The name of Martha Day comes into play on the death certificates of one of the sons, but that may have actually have been a step-mother and the grandchild giving the info for parentage my not have been aware of that factor. It is in direct conflict with the LIMITED info given for the mother's name by her 2 sons when they married!?! Total confusion here so any assistance and/or info you find will be greatly appreciated.
