I am told on the birth certificate for Francis that the mother is listed as Roseanne.............but it is more logical it is Hannah and that these two are the parents of Francis Marion Ross. The father, Robert Ross, was born about 1774 in Va. and died abt 1860 in L. Co. Robert  and Nancy ? had a Robert b 1798-1800 in Va. died 1883 in Indiana,  They also had about 5 other children by 1818.  I have not pursued him into Indiana but am told the 1798/1800 Robert also married a Nancy b abt 1803 in Ky. and died 1865 in Indiana.  That Robert and Nancy had a son Uriah G. 1. Re: [OHLAWREN] Family names...ROSS
    2. I think this is Francis Marion Ross, but he was born abt 1824 in L. Co. Ohio and died bef. 1870 in West Va. He married Elizabeth Louisa Hall Jarvis Feb. 27 1859 in Calhoun, Va. His father was Robert Ross and mother Hannah Coneway/Conway. They married 3/28/1818 in L.Co. Ohio. I am told on the birth certificate for Francis that the mother is listed as Roseanne.............but it is more logical it is Hannah and that these two are the parents of Francis Marion Ross. The father, Robert Ross, was born about 1774 in Va. and died abt 1860 in L. Co. Ohio. He had been married prior to H.Conway....to Nancy ? abt 1798. She was born abt 1779 in Augusta Va and died bef. 1818. Ross b abt 1836 in Indiana who married a Isabella Morgan 3/4/1858 in Indiana. Hope this helps. 3. I'm working on the Sumpter family of Lawrence County. Elizabeth Sumpter married Martin Earles/Earls on Oct. 15, 1819 in Lawrence County. Their daughter Lucinda Earles married Elliott Corbin on Nov. 7, 1839. Is by chance any of the Earles/Corbin descendant lines that you are researching? If so would be glad to exchange information with you. -----Original Message----- >From: RALPH HAYES <ralphhayes1@msn.com> >Sent: Dec 24, 2009 9:28 AM >To: OHLAWREN <ohlawren@rootsweb.com> >Subject: [OHLAWREN] (no subject) > > > >Merry Christmas everyone. > > > >Researching HAYES, EARLES, NEAL, HOLLENBECK, BOOTHE, CORBIN in Lawrence Co., OHIO >Ralph L. I support the idea of posting the family names we are working on, so here goes: Currently, I am working on the TAGG surname, Thomas C., James, William and Mary Ann all moved to Lawrence county circa 1840's Thomas C. married Eliza Morton, James married (1) Sarah McComas (2) Nancy Bee (3) Sarah Dillon, William married Eliza ?? and Mary Ann married Rev. James McComas Thomas, James, William, Mary Ann, Eliza, John H., Joseph and Lucy/Lucinda/Lucretia Tagg were the children of James Tagg and Rebecca HEIGHTON.  They emigrated from Kettering Northamptonshire England in 1836 settling in Portage County Ohio, where Rebecca's brother, Thomas Heighton had already settled with their family.  The elder James died in 1845.  Rebecca lived with various of her children until her death in 1868.  Eliza married Lewis V. Stauffer in Portage County in 1850 and died in 1852.  William took over his father's business of painting houses and married Eliza  ??  later moving to Lawrence county circa 1860's.  Lucy/Lucinda/Lucretia disappears from written records after 1838.  I have not been able to find a marriage or death record for her.  Thomas bought land in Lawrence County in 1842 and married Eliza Morton the same year.  I don't have the exact date that the younger James moved to Lawrence county.  I am descended through his first wife, Sarah MCCOMAS whom he married in 1848.  James served in the 91st Infantry during the Civil War.  He and William were twins.  Joseph moved to Memphis Tennessee and opened up a very successful pain and wall paper business. Mary Ann married Rev. James MCCOMAS (brother to Sarah??) and she died circa 1868-1869. Any cousins out there working on these lines?? 3. The surnames in Lawrence County that I am researching are as follows: William Freeman and his wife Sarah "Sally" Parker and their children arrived in Lawrence County in 1828.. Edmund Sumpter born 1814 in Lawrence County and believed to be the son of Richard Sumpter and his wife Isa Smith. Edmund married Nancy Snell in Lawrence County in 1831. their daughter Margaret Ann was the wife of James Freeman and they married in 1855 in Lawrence County. Jacob Cornell was the son of James Cornell and his wife Rebecca Hill. The Cornells were appearing on the records in Gallia County by 1816. Jacob married Mary Ellen McCaffrey in Lawrence County in 1864. Benjamin Brown and his wife Nancy Bartram were originally from Cabell County but were in Lawrence County by the 1830 Census. Thomas Stapleton was born in Johnson County KY. He and his wife Margaret Jane Cyrus Rutherford arrived in Lawrence County in the 1860s. There are too many surnames in the decendant lines of these people to list but would like to exchange information with anyone who may also be researching these lines. ________________________________________ PeoplePC Online A better way to Internet http://www.peoplepc.com
