If you go to FindAGrave.com, search for this cemetery, you'll find a map to the Kingery Cemetery. It is very easy. There is a sign to help. Also you can do a google search which will also provide a map. If you do not make it to the cemetery, I have a photo of the gravesites for William, his 3rd wife Elizabeth, his father and mother, McCager and Mary Callicoat Dillon. William Cyrus Dillon was my paternal grandmother's father. Where is Thelma Ellen buried? Thanks. Henry S. Recently I used the RootsWeb "Search Thingy" and searched for "Lawrence Co. OH". That yielded 1246 results. If you've ever used this search you know that the results are a URL string and very little, if any description. I decided to look at each link and make an index for them. This index had 594 different Surnames. If you go to http://www.caulleyscorner.com/LawrenceCoOH/ and click om MISC. on the left, you'll be taken to this index. There, all you havve to do is click on a surname and you will be taken to the Link/Links for that name. I've included a brief description of the Lawrence Co info on each page. Enjoy, Tom Caulley

I have a book on Greenup County marriages for the 1850s but unfortunately it only goes to 1858. I might suggest that you contact Jim at the Boyd County Library. He is very helpful and may be able to find the information if they married in KY. His email address: JKettel@thebookplace.org or Don Clark at the Lawrence County Genealogical Society and he may be able to tell you if he knows of anyone that is researching these families or he might be able to put an inquiry in their newsletter for you. Thanks fkb, I forgot to mention that Marta did find that, too. But what I'm really wondering about is where they were married, and why so many genealogists tend to believe it was Lawrence County. What with the Lawrence Register online site, and Gallia County Marriage books put out by the genealogical society, plus searching Cordelia, Malissa, every conceivable spelling of the Eachus name (and some not so conceivable), I've just come up empty. I'm always amazed at the amount of knowledge the people on these two forums have, and their willingness to help, so I thought I'd throw my question out. I know there are people on both sides of the Ohio here and I was just wondering how easy it is to research marriage records in Boyd and Greenup County for Dec. 28, 1859. I was also curious if there are any Dempseys still in Lawrence County who might know if Andrew S. was ever over in the Bedford County PA area. I would like to get in touch with someone from the Dempsey family who might be able to help me identify a photograph (portrait) of a Dempsey. Originally I thought the name on the was E.O. Dempsey, (unfortunately I don't have the original as it belonged to a family member), but I believe it was misidentified and it's really E.A. Dempsey (Eliza Ann, the one born in 1867 and died in 1958). From her facial appearance I'd say she's in her 30s to 40s which would place it in the last decade of the 19th or first of the 20th century, the dress also matches other family photographs that I have of that era. Think this is your family. Lawrence County History Book 1990 Andrew Jackson Dempsey was born in VA Feb. 11, 1833. Parents Andrew S (1804-1891) and Sarah (died 1848) Moved to Walnut Township, Gallia County and then to Aid Township, Lawrence County. 1st. step-mother: Susannah Wiseman Piles (1820-1855) 2nd. step-mother: Cordelia "Malissa" Eaches (1833-1911)...children: Joseph 1865-1946), Hugh (1866-1918), Eliza (1867-1958) and Minnie (1872-1939) They moved to WI around 1870s. Doesn't say when the marriages occurred. Maybe you can locate your under "Cordelia"...and if you haven't tried "Eaches" spelling it may help you. Andrew J was married to Magdeline Anna Wiseman (1837-1862) on Sept. 2, 1855. He married Sophia Fife (1846-1912) on Sept 14, 1865 in Scioto County. Andrew served in the Civil War Co, D 53rd OVI. Hi Guys! I'm researching the Eachus family and one of the branches includes Andrew S. Dempsey and his third wife Melissa Eachus. I contacted Briggs Library this afternoon and Marta looked up Andrew for me. There were three marriages but none to Melissa. The first Lawrence County marriage record for Andrew is to Susan Piles, Jan. 7, 1849. According to some GenForum posts about Melissa Robert N. Wiseman (Historian Wiseman Family Association) claims Susan's maiden name wasWiseman and she is the widow of Francis Piles http://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?Dempsey::eachus::226.html The second marriage that Marta found was Andrew Dempsey to Anna M. Wiseman, Sept. 2, 1855. At first I thought Anna was the sister of Andrew S's Susan, but as it turns out, if I'm reading some online stuff correctly, Anna is the first cousin of Susan and married Andrew J. (the son). The third marriage Marta found is Sarah A. Kemp Feb. 10, 1857. That would be the son again. There is no record for Andrew and Melissa who were married Dec. 28, 1859. Does anyone know if they went to Boyd or Greenup County to get married? I checked Gallia, which is where the bride was from, and couldn't find her. The only other possibility is that they married in Bedford County, Pa. Does anyone know if the Dempsey family lived over there? I ask this because Melissa was living with her older sister at least as late as 1856 in Bedford County, PA. According to the 1850 census she was living with Maria and her husband John P. Smith. According to Gallia County Chancery records, the court was petitioned by the Administrator of Rufus' estate to force a sale of the land to cover debts. All the children were listed as defendants and the record stated specifically that John P. Smith, Maria Smith and Melissa Eachus were all non-residents. I'm assuming she was still with her big sister. I have reason to believe that Melissa had a much closer relationship with her big sister than the average sister today. For more on that you'll have to read my website, as my theory is quite complex. I have quite a bit on Melissa's father Rufus on my website at http://lindatrent.homestead.com/rufuseachus.html if anyone's interested. But I will caution that I have challenged a couple of old beliefs, and prove that Melissa was the daughter of the first wife, and not Nancy Sullivan as many Eachus researchers have believed. :-) BTW, all the census records on my site are hyperlinked to ancestry.com and require an ancestry.com subscription to view. I've only had the site up for about a week, and am still working on it, but it's a good solid start. Any questions, corrections, comments, etc. are welcome I am also hoping to start an Eachus DNA project, currently there is none. So if anyone's interested please get in touch with me. Participants must be male and must have the surname Eachus. I know virtually nothing about DNA other than what the average person knows. It goes tester, father, grandfather, great grandfather... BTW, for those who don't know Rufus was the husband of Nancy Sullivan, and they had two children Henry and Thomas. After Rufus died Nancy married Thomas Kelly and moved to Lawrence County. Thanks, Linda Trent linda_trent@att.net

When you have your paperwork back, I would be interested in any information you might have on Isaac Francis Suiter born June 18, 1826 Lawrence County and died June 5, 1880. On May 25, 1845 he married Izza Sumpter who was born 1826 in Lawrence County and died before May 28, 1863. I am showing them with 3 children: (1)Gerald George was born Feb. 9, 1847 and died Feb. 9, 1863. (2)William Jasper born Jan. 1, 1851; died Aug. 4, 1917. He married Frances A. Bink who was born March 1855. (3)Rachel Suiter born about 1853. I show that Isaac married (2)Martha Jane Mann on May 28, 1863 and (3)Susan Gue on March 8, 1879. I believe that he and Martha had children Mary, Harrison, Ira, Lonnie and Estella (this names on census reports). I am researching the Sumpter family line. I researched this family for many years and published a family newsletter in conjunction with the Suiter Family Association. However, I am now 74 years old and am not now actively researching and my mind is not working as well as it used to. There are at least two distinct Suiter families from Ohio. My husband was descended from the Lawrence County, Ohio branch. Another branch was from Highland County. Do you know where in Ohio your grandmother lived? I do know several members of the various Suiter lines and could maybe put you in contact with someone if I knew just a little more, like the county she lived in. I have passed on much of my Suiter information to someone who was going to continue publishing the newsletter but that has not happened. She also has all my copies of the newsletter but I will get those back from her and see if there is anything there that might help. Children of the Clarence W. Suiter you mentioned would not be the correct age. A Suiter reunion will be held in June but I do not have any of the details yet. As soon as I hear where and when I will let you know. This reunion will include people from different Suiter lines. There might be someone there who could help. At least we could send a query to the person in charge to be read at the reunion.
