    3. Carl I may have a small connection to your Wilgus family in Lawrence co Ohio. My daughter married a Tim Elliott whose mother was Elizabeth Roberts whose mother was Ellen Wilgus. Ellen Wilgus' father was Wm. Wilgus born 1837, his father was Thomas born 1807. The fartherest back was Thomas Blanes Wilgus born 1700. I think Eliz. Told me her aunt had given her this information. I can send you a FTM printout of what I have if this is of interet to you and you give me your snail mail address. Can not verify its correctness. But Im starting a project of connecting my William Johnson b 1816 in Lawrence County to parents. I suspect that they were of the same family, and that as William's kids were first born in the 1840's his brothers and sisters probably were having their kids at the same time (if they were living in Lawrence County) and your James might be a nephew. That is, however, only speculation. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. This covers up to some time after 1900. The downside is that they are not indexed on line, so you will have to either go to the recorders office to use the index there, or visit the Hamner Room of Briggs Library, which has a set of the first four index books and has them on microfilm. They are alphabetized by first letter only and entered in the order they were presented to be recorded. They are indexed by both grantor and grantee, where the grantor is the seller, the grantee is the buyer. Deeds were often held for quite a while before they were taken to the courthouse and recorded, sometimes until after the owner has died and the family is trying to transfer the land to the heirs. Go the the Lawrence County Recorders web site: _www.lawrencecountyohiorecorder.org_ (http://www.lawrencecountyohiorecorder.org/) / select records search, got to bottom of the description page and click the records search button, then on the next page select non indexed-book/page If you know the book and page you are set, otherwise you'll either have to go to the index in Ironton, or find someone who can do that. 1. Re: [OHLAWREN] deeds
    2. Bruce, I did look at those deeds, and I would have to stand with the interpretation we discussed earlier. If you know John to be the son of Thomas W, then the grandson's are inheriting their grandfathers land and the others selling their share to the one named for the grandfather. Still some ifs, but most likely scenario that I can see. Don In a message dated 5/6/2010 10:15:29 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, bruce@heartlandmedia.com writes: Hi Don! I was wondering if you had a chance to look at those deed pages I mentioned and if you saw anything different than I found? Thanks, Bruce of the message
