I can not find him in any census before 1880 and unfortunately I do not know the names of his parents. His marriage record states Lauson County, Ohio as a birth place. I am assuming this is a mispelling. Thank you very much. Christine

Hi, Do you have Chester Miller's book entitled NEALS OF BEDFORD CO., VA AND FAMILY OF WALTER NEAL, SR. OF LAWRENCE AND GALLIA COUNTIES, OHIO? He has a good section on ANNA MARIAH NEAL and her children, etc. My great-grandmother was RACHEL NEAL, daughter of DANIEL NEAL & LYDIA SYAR OR BANKS NEAL. My Rachel married RICHARD NELSON RICE, son of WILLIAM RICE AND SARAH (SALLY) LYNAM RICE. Rachel and Richard Nelson were my great-grandparents. I recently with help, found our GGGrandfather, Hezekiah C. Bellomy & wife Sarah A. with ch: including our G.Grandfather Wm. H, siblings Marion & Jefferson(twins), Eliz, John Taylor, James N& Elvira. They were living in Lawrence Co., Ohio on the 1850 census. It showed parents, James, Wm. H. & Elvira were born in VA. The rest of the ch. were born in OH. On the 1860 census, the family had all moved to Erath Co.,TX. I didn't find the parents on later census, only Wm. H. on 1870 in Tarrant Co. with his wife. Your Bellomy's in KY could be a branch I suppose, but not knowing anything else abt them, do not know. Do any of the above names sound familiar? Thanks again. Nelda Thompson

Alex got custody of his 3 kids by Christina, he accused her of adultery, and the court sided with him. He married almost immediately, to Lucy Johnson. Lucy bore him 5 sons, and died about 3 weeks after giving birth to her last son. I know she is buried at Woodland cemetery in Lawrence Co Oh but I was unable to locate her grave when I was there last summer. I have no other information about her family in my files to date. I have the names of the boys, but my files are in my new house, and I have not yet unpacked them..still in proces s of moving! Alex & many of his family, including son Wesley, by Lucy, are buried in Hecla Cemetery in Lawrence Co, Oh. Alex was a Civil War vet, and he & his brother are also buried there under Civil War monuments.

He had a total of I think 10 children, among these 3 women. He & his first wife, Christina, are my great great grandparents. Alex & Christina divorced in 1873. I descend through their daughter Amanda, who married Thomas Campbell in 1880. They were later divorced. Alex & his 3 brothers all fought in the Civil War, and I have tried in vain to locate a photo of him in uniform. The 39th Kentucky Cavalry website does not have one, nor do the National Archives, or any other military organizations. Do any of my Baldwin cousins out there have a photo of Alex, in or out of uniform?
