Hi! I wanted to let you know that I checked my two Lawrence County reference books for White Eagle and White Cloud. I couldn't find any mention of them in either. The books that I checked were "History of Lawrence County, Ohio, Volume I," published in 1990 and "History of Lawrence County, Ohio, Volume II," published in 2004. I thought that you'd like to know that I checked these two books (so you don't duplicate effort later). Sorry that I could find them. - Jean Griesan Colorado -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Sunday, July 31, 2005 12:25 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [OHLAWREN] Clifford White Eagle and White Cloud This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Looking for additional descendants of Samuel Lewis Sr. & Mary ________. of Indian Creek, Old Greenbrier County, Virginia to participate in the LEWIS Surname DNA Project... I ask because the descendant of Samuel Lewis Sr. & Mary ________. that has participated in the LEWIS Surname DNA project at http://www.lewissurnamednaproject.com/ descends from Wilson Lewis & Sarah Elizabeth Burcham and although there is substantial conjecture that he is the son of John "The Baptist" Lewis he has yet to be a proven son via documentation... I am sure you can see where I am going in that if an additional documented descendant of Samuel's participates that would confirm or deny Wilson descent... Thanks in advance, Patrick Kenney 3744 Cactus Wheel Ct. Hello list, It has been awhile sence I was last on the list. I was wondering what new in Lawrence County and also what publications for sale by the society and etc. ? Mrs.Linda Reilly (>"""<) (="o"=) (,,)=(,,)
Hi Sharon, I found the following records of marriage in Lawrence County: Emily Canter to Andrew Neal, January 2, 1871 I found the following record of marriage in neighboring Gallia County, Ohio: Rosanna Canter to George W. Mayes, September 1, 1874 For Eva, I found a strange record on the LDS website that stated that Eva Francis Canter was the daughter of John Morticia Canter and Maria or Mary Pittman. It goes on to state that she was born February 9, 1855 in Shenandoah (County?), Virginia and died April 8, 1944. It states that she married Charles Lake in Ohio in 1876. This is not the typical record that is on the LDS website in this format. However, this may give you a starting place to find information on Eva. It's possible that you could track her through the census and find an obituary or a biography for her husband somewhere that might give you more information. For Martha, I found a marriage for a Martha C. Canter to Henry J. Trop in Highland County, Ohio on February 22, 1876. Highland County is not adjacent but several counties away from Lawrence County. It's impossible to say if this is the right person or not. I couldn't find a listing for Henry Trop in the 1880 census in Highland County. There were only two Henry Trops (one was spelled Tropp) in the U.S. in 1880, and neither is likely. One's too young, and the other is married to Rebecca, and they look to have been married for a long time. I hope that this information helps you! - Jean Griesan Colorado -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Monday, July 18, 2005 12:13 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [OHLAWREN] Canter Daughters This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
