Dear Richard Barrett, You wrote: 20 Jun 1999 >Need parents of Hulbert Prosser, b. September 20, 1874, <Andover, >Ashtabula Co., Ohio; d. My Addie E. BARRETT COLE lived with her 2nd husband, Rev. Luther R. JAYNE in Andover twp, Ashtabula Co, Ohio in 1870 [per the census- Pg. 2, Dwelling 16, family 17]. So they were living in Andover when your Hulbert PROSSER was born there in 1874. Just yesterday I wrote to Jim Wal...<[email protected]> & Barb Trautlein and sent the following product of my "mulling over" the Parmly/ Barrett stuff from the James L. Parmly sketch in "History of the Western Reserve". Jim sent me this additional info- some of which conflicts with that in the above mentioned sketch. James L. Parmly and his 1st wife, Marian A. Woods, wed 7 Oct 1855 in Lake county, Ohio, acc. to Dorothy Smallwood's PARMELEE data. She died in 1899 on Dec 26 acc to tombstone at church of christ cem. at Perry, Ohio. They had son, Harry b (6 may 1866-16 jul 1866, acc to tombstone at christ church). Jim says, I have Ruth Eliza PARMLY b abt 1875 acc to Charles Ward PARMELEE's "PARMELEES: 300 Years in America", -- but this book is loaded with mistakes throughout. With this info from Jim, it seems the children, Harry B. and Ruth Eliza PARMLY were born to the 1st wife, and not after he married his 2nd, Ruth E. BARRETT in 1901 when James PARMLY was abt 70 yrs old. Regards! Mary Kay COLE WARD- Richmond, Virginia. Mary Kay's "mulling's" about the PARMLY sketch in "History of the Western Reserve" James Lownes Parmly was born 13 Aug 1832 in Lake Co, Ohio. He fought in the Civil War and married his first wife Marian A. Woods in his youth (maybe age 20+?). She died in 1899 --when he was 67 yrs old--and the sketch says they had no children. They had probably been married over 40 years. James L. Parmly was 69 yrs old when he married his 2nd wife 2 years later, on 3 Jan 1901 - Mary E. BARRETT the dau. of F.E and Ruth STEPHENS BARRETT, of Painesville, Ohio. Mary E. BARRETT probably was about 30 years old, so she must have been about 40 years younger than James PARMLY. Mary and James PARMLY were only married for 7 years when he died 31 Jan 1908 at age 75! During those 7 years they had 2 children, Henry B. PARMLY probably born about 1902 and Ruth Eliza PARMLY born about 1904. Their father must have been in his early 70's when they were born because they were probably only about 4 & 6 yrs old when their father died. So Mary E. BARRETT was probably born about 1870; her brother, Courtney BARRETT was born 1 Dec 1869; her brother, Dell BARRETT and her sister, Mrs. Frank COLE were probably born in the 1870's. So their parents, F. E. BARRETT and Ruth STEPHENS were probably born about 1850. Hmmmmm. Where did these BARRETTs come from? Who was Frank COLE and what was his wife, Miss BARRETT's first name? ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it.
