    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Thomas Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BZB.2ACI/290.1.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Yes...you are correct! J. M. Thomas (John M.) and Rebecca were of Middlefield, Otsego Co, NY in l850...actually were in Middlefield since 1810. James H (Halliday) Thomas was married to a Zilpha (?) and they were the parents to this John M Thomas. John M. Thomas b.1808-1810 in New York was the father to Ann M. Thomas who married Charles O. Barrett, Rachel who was the wife of Omar Selby (she died when 16 yet still married), James Thomas (nothing known on him), William B. Thomas (never married) and probably Calvin S. Thomas. James H. Thomas (father of John M Thomas) was the son of John F. Thomas who was born circa.1760, we believe in Massachusetts...but lived early on by the l770's in Skenesborough, now Whitehall, Washington County, NY. John F. Thomas (father of James H Thomas) married Rebecca Halladay, and she was the d/o James and Rebecca Halliday. John F. Thomas was the son of ? (which is the source of our current research). John F Thomas b.1760 was the eldest child and eldest son born to his parents, per testimonies of his sibling James Thomas in John's Am Rev Pension Files. John F Thomas was the sibling to Samuel Thomas, James Thomas, S. Thomas and a known sister, her name not yet discovered. John F. Thomas, Samuel and James Thomas all removed to Middlefield, Otsego Co, NY from Whitehall, Washington County, NY. Samuel Thomas was first in Middlefield in l800 and John F and his brother James Thomas came to Middlefield by 1810 (we don't know where they; John, F, and James Thomas were in l800). My particular line, of which the above, we believe are related cousinly, was Zachariah and Hannah Thomas. . Zach was born 1738 to Ephraim and Abigail (Porter) Thomas in CT, and all of whom were later of Tyringham/Monterery, Berskhire County, Massachusetts. Zachariah Thomas came to Skenesborough, now Whitehall, Washington Co, NY between April 1770 and January 1773 and was still there in January 1775...afterwhich he died, and died by Summer of 1778. His widow Hannah Thomas (nee ?) still remained in Whitehall. Zach and Hannahs sons, known sons were: Eliphalet Thomas and Ephraim Thomas and his wife Mehitable Earll-who are my direct links. We, there are three of us, are working diligently on ascertaining who the parents were to John F (b.1760), Samuel (b.1762) and James Thomas (born circa 1771-2)...as we believe they are cousins to my Zachariah Thomas. Zachariah's brother Ezekiel Thomas and his wife Deborah Jackson lived at Kingsbury, Washington County, NY. Also too, we believe that Levi Thomas of 1790 at Whitehall is a son of our Zachariah and Hannah Thomas. Calvin, the name Calvin, arises out of the "Hallidays"...as Rebecca Halliday married John F. Thomas, and her sister Phoebe Halliday married Samuel Thomas...two sisters marrying two brothers and Rebecca and Phoebe's brother was Calvin Halladay who removed to Ontario Co, NY and then onto Burlington, Calhoun County, Michigan where he died. Calvin Thomas son of John F and Rebecca Thomas died in l830 at Middlefield, Otsego County, NY. James H. Thomas (b.1786) and s/o John F. and Rebecca Thomas named a son Calvin (after his brother) who was born 1818 and who died 1889 at Worcester, Otsego Co, NY...he removed to Madison, Lake Co, Ohio with his father, post 1850, but later went back and lived at Worcester, Otsego ...as he is buried, with his wife Mary (nee Williams) at Maplegrove Cemetery along with some of his brothers and their wives; Delos Thomas/Catherine Bates and Eliza Williams (wife of Elon Thomas, not sure if he is buried there as well). So your "Thomas" family information is most interesting. We know that Samuel Thomas (above) b.1762 enlisted at the Great Barrington Massachusetts for the Am Rev War circa 1780-1...and when he did this, he was living at Skenesborough NY...so we are curious to know if his fathers, perhaps Mother's family were living in that particular area of Massachusetts. There, if memory serves me correctly, was many "Thomas'" from Middleboro, Massachusetts. Our Thomas line came out of Ct, to Massachusetts then into Washington Co, NY and then beyond. So email me privately and we can chat beyond this...as this is most intriguing to have located a "Thomas" descendent from the areas of our interest! There was also a Sylvanus Thomas in Otsego Co, NY, just at the moment can't recall in what year. Looking forward to hearing from you!! Michelle
