Jolliffe, 82, of 85 Mantle Rd., Painesville, died Saturday morning at Lake County Memorial Hospital, Painesville, following a lingering illness. Born Jan. 22, 1892 in Painesville, he spent his entire life in Lake County. He lived with his daughter, Mrs. Arloa Congos, who survives. He was a sanitarian in the Lake County Health Department, retiring in 1967, and a meatcutter in several Painesville markets. His wife Arlis, whom he married in Painesville in 1910, preceded him in death May 30, 1969. He was active in several baseball leagues, both as a player and umpire. He was the oldest member of Painesville United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Temple Lodge 28 F. & A. M. in Painesville, and of the Painesville High-Twelve club. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Congos of Painesville; two sons, Jay Sibley Jolliffe of Johnson City, Tenn. and Claude of Naples, Florida; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Frankie Scheidel of Ashtabula. He was preceded in death by his wife and a son, Harvey, in 1954. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Johnson Funeral Home, 368 Mentor Ave., Painesville. The Rev. Dr. Alva W. Taylor of Painesville United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home where Masonic services will be held at 9 p.m.
