The children were raised in Ill. by a German family, but said they were born in Tiffin, OH. This is a hard nut to crack. Does any of it connect with your information?

    1. [OHLAKE] Lake County Gen. Society updates
    2. Cynthia C Turk
    3. Dear Listers, The Lake County Genealogical Society has a few upgrades to its site at www.rootsweb.com/~ohlcgs/ The site still has the Lake County Cemetery inscriptions that are completed and the probate naturalization index. It now has a FAQ page for the cemetery project and page of "Cemeteries with Religious Attributions." The latter is in case you are looking for a cemetery for a particular church or religion. Several are attributed to churches which never were. Proofing season is upon us and several sections have already been turned in. Painesville cemeteries (and Fairport) are next in line and we are working very hard to get that available for you at the earliest possible time. Anyone wishing to help proof out in the cemeteries should contact me. The Ohio Cottage project, which was a Gen Society work by myself and Jean Barnes, has been put on GenWeb because it seems to fit there nicely and will search with the other items there. Happy Hunting! Cynthia Turk Cemetery Project Chair, and webmaster Lake County Genealogical Society

    1. [OHLAKE] GenWeb updates
    2. Cynthia C Turk
    3. Dear Listers, The recent updates to the Lake County OH GenWeb site are now available. Pioneer Registry has several e-mail address updates, and new information for the following surnames: Amsden Carroll Cortes Hines Keener Lawrence Lloyd Osborn Woodworth Under Institutions, you will now find the Women's Relief Corps Home in Madison, sometimes called Ohio Cottage. This home housed hundreds of (mostly) women who were widows of Civil War veterans, and later mothers and widows of other wars. You will find many ladies who "disappeared" here. Many are not from Lake County at all. From the information I gleaned items available from name, birth date and place, death date and place, burial place, home, and much more. Sources are listed. There will be a history of the facility in the next couple of weeks. Under Activities, there are many genealogical and historical meetings and events listed in and about the Lake County area. Under Military is a new listing of Military Grave Marker abbreviations. If you have corrections or additions, please contact the webmaster. Enjoy! I am not even sure she was from Lake County, but she and her husband, Albert Hughes, lived in Willoughby. Elinor was my grandma and I don't have anything on her family background! My grandfather died of an accident at age 36 back in 1950, but his family had been in the Cleveland area for at least 20 years before his death. Anything sound familiar? I'm not sure how to find Elinor since her birth location is not known. -- Denise

    2. Linda Jeffery
    3. Hello, Although I was a classmate of David's, I do not know where he is buried. However, I can suggest that you contact Morley Library in Painesville to see if an obituary was done for him locally in 1968. Their web site is: http://www.morleylibrary.org/genealogy.htm There are also 2 large cemeterys in Painesville; Evergreen Cemetery and Riverside Cemetery. The cemetery office is located at 501 E. Main St., Painesville, OH 44077 and they would have the records for both. Its been a long time since high school, but for some reason I thought he had died at Walter Reed Hospital (Washington area?). Good luck in your search. If you can, let me know what you find out. -Linda. ----- Original Message ----- From: <rsage@austin.rr.com> To: <OHLAKE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 05, 2003 6:08 PM Subject: [OHLAKE] David H.
