The Lake County Genealogical Society will hold their November meeting at Cleveland Public Library on Thursday November 20, 2003. The group will take the 9:10 RTA bus from Shoregate Shopping Center, Lakeshore Blvd. in Willowick. Bring $1.00 bills for exact change for the fare (about $6.00). Bring bag lunch and be prepared to research. A tour will be given of genealogically significant materials. A very brief meeting for election of officers will be held at the library. A trip home is scheduled after 3:00 pm, but anyone may leave whenever a bus is available-about every hour, and more during rush hour. Library has Ohio census, many indexes, many on-line databases, a language department, excellent history department, outstanding map department, and, for Cuyahoga County, a fabulous photo collection and much more. All are welcome to join us there or on the bus. Lake County Chapter does not meet in December.
Well, going to Stark County sounds good to me. Since our Gov. has raised the price for a death certificate to $15.00 Thanks for the info. Ruth
Just thought I'd pass this along, the Stark County Library now houses 1908-1945 death certificates for the state of Ohio. They have indexes for 1908 through 1932. 1933, 34 and 35 can be found online. They also house 1867 through 1908 for many counties. Stark County Library has plenty of readers, a helpful staff and copy machines. The have the entire Ohio census and many other states. It's a little over an hour drive from Cleveland or Lake County but for someone who needs to copy lots of death certificates it's worth it. The price of a copy is 15 cents. There's plenty of free parking and of course no fee to get in. It's easy to get to right off 77 south, and easy to get back on 77 north. Call for directions. My 4th Grt Grandfather Isarel SEGAR came to Concord Township sometime before the 1820 census. His daughter Sylvia married Roswell Adams and came with their family somewhat later and settled in Concord also. My research shows that they came from Barkhamsted in Litchfield County Connecticut. Does anyone have information on the Segar families of Geauga and Lake County? Richard Sobers

Dear Mary Kay, Are you seeing the two Elijah Buttons and two Mary Ann Minors in the marriage records online, a day apart? This is the application on the 6th and the marriage return on the 7th. It would seem very strange to have two couples same name same year. The marriage entry in Geauga matches the newpaper entry you have.
