Brent Morgan will present "Searching Military Records on the Internet" at the meeting of the Lake County Genealogical Society on Thursday February 26, 2004 at Mentor Library, 8215 Mentor Ave., Mentor, Ohio 44060. This talk runs the gamut of U.S. Wars and offers a lot of tips and new sites to find ancestors and records. Mr. Morgan is a member of the Civil War Roundtable, Sons of the American Revolution, and the Association of Professional Genealogists. He is an active member of the WRHS Gen Committee, East Cuyahoga County Genealogical Society, Northeastern Ohio Computer Aided Genealogy Society, and many other organizations. HINES (~1820-1882) (born in NY State, moved to Painesville, Ohio between 1860 and 1870) was the brother of my GG Grandfather Henry Harrison HINES. Leonard enlisted in U.S. Civil War at age 42 - was in a regimental band from Oswego County, NY. Leonard's wife was Susan I. ANTHONY (1825-1907) (aka Margaret). She was buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville. Their children that I know of at present were: Marion M. [born circa 1847/48] married Daniel MANNING Herbert H. [born circa 1849/50] Harriett H. [born circa 1851/2] Caroline (aka Carrie) A. [born circa 1853/4] Charlotte S (or I) (aka Lottie) [born circa 1856/57] married Eugene GILMORE and were living in Painseville in 1880. Leonard Arthur [headstone as Arthur L. Hines (1859 -1927)] married Sarah RIKER (1861-1937) [both buried in Evergreen cemetery]. Arthur and Sarah's daughter Mabel Louise HINES (1885-1971) married Norman HOUSER (1890-1969) [both also buried in Evergreen cemetery]. Looking to contact any descendants/relations of the above to exchange family history information.

According to the history of Lake Co., Ohio John Roper was one of the very earliest settlers of the area that later became Lake Co. John was born circa 1780. It is believed that John and his wife Flavia both died in Painesville. I believe, but have yet to prove, his children were all born in Chardon, Ohio. The known children of John and Flavia are: Almena, Emeline, John, Rudolphus, and Marcena. Any information at all on this family would be greatly appreciated. Constance

Baily Markum and Mary Ellen Harpending George are my great grandparents. They are both buried in Crittenden County Kentucky. She was born 15 May 1853 and died 28 May 1913. They were married 25 September 1872. If this matches anything you have lets correspond as I have addtional childrens names etc.
