Many thanks to the Morley Library workers and all the record keepers in Lake Co., who over the years have helped provide such good resources! I would like to make a query regarding my ancestor Phoebe Flint Hopkins. Her marriage record to Benjamin Hopkins, the 3rd, in Wilton, New Hampshire in 1782, states that she was "of Amherst." This couple soon moved to New York and then on to Ohio, where they became pioneers in Mentor. They are buried in Mentor. (Died in 1837 and 1833.) For many years I have tried to find a clue that would help me determine the parents of Phoebe Flint. If anyone reading this can help, please contact me? I am happy to share my research.

Surnames: BENEDICT BANDLE Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BZB.2ACI/737.1 Message Board Post: I have found information (still unconfirmed) that Eliza married a widower named Samuel BANDLE 25 July 1875 in Lake County. They appear in the 1880 census in Mentor, Lake, Ohio. The surname is shown in the index as "Baudle" but her name, age, and place of birth match information I already have. In a Lake County Obituary Index I found a reference to an obituary for E. J. BANDLE, age 77, in Mentor, Lake, Ohio. She died 21 December 1892. The index entry shows the date of birth as unknown, but I calculated it to be 1815, which matches previous information. I'm hoping to obtain a copy of this obituary soon.
Just to let everyone know and those who have seen the 7th Ohio monument at Woodland Cemetery that I finally transcribed the names on the monument. Those who have seen it, know it is very difficult to read. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohclecem/7thOhio.html I also have the names transcribed off the 23rd Ohio monument at Woodland Cemetery. No problem reading this monument. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohclecem/23rdOhio.html The names on the monument are exactly as they appear on the monument, correct or not. I checked them against a few rosters and they do have differences. Michelle

I am searching for information on the families of Martin and Roswell Adams who came to Concord Township about 1821. Roswell's wife was Sylvia Segar. Her father Israel Segar also came to Concord and lived next to them in the 1830 Census. They came from Barkhamsted,Litchfield County Connecticut. Israel had several sons as well as daughter Sylvia. One was Urial Segar who later lived at Braceville in Trumbull County. Richard Sobers _________________________________ SISNA...more service, less money. http://www.sisna.com/exclusive/
I am reprinting this from the Washington State Genealogical Society Newsletter. I thought it may be of interest to someone. Modern Woodmen of America Modern Woodmen of America is a fraternal beneficiary society. The use of their records, as well as other fraternal life insurance organizations' records, as secondary records, could help to knock down a brick wall. These three features - the lodge system, a representative government and payment of insurance benefits - are what create records of use to genealogists and historians. Modern Woodmen of America was organized in 1883 in Lyons, Iowa. As you prepare your research, be sure that Modern Woodmen of America was active in the state your ancestor lived. Although Modern Woodmen did no go into the southern states or large communities until the late 1890's or early 1900's, it doesn't mean your ancestor couldn't have been insured and belonged to a camp in a northern state. Their records do not come under public domain, they are privately held. You can request a free copy of their Guide by writing to MWA, 1701 1st Ave, Rock Island, IL 61201, or calling Gail Ann Levis at 309.786.6481, or email to gail.ann.levis@modern-woodmen.org <mailto:gail.ann.levis@modern-woodmen.org>. Their website is http://www.modern-woodmen.org <http://www.modern-woodmen.org/>, and they have a page for genealogists that will guide you through the process to submit a request for research.

Hello to all, I'm seeking any relations to the above named women. They were the daughters of Adeline JEWELL born 1845 Kirtland and Lucius CHANDLER of North Chardon. After her husband's death Adeline lived with her daughter Minnie RICHMOND from 1892 to 1908 in Painesville. I know Adeline's daughter Minnie died in 1898. I don't seem to find them in either the LC cemetery inscription or on the CPL site Adeline JEWELL Chandler's obit in 1908 reads that her daughter C.K. RUSSELL died 10 years earlier and that a daughter and two grandchildren survive her. If anyone has any of these lines in their family I'd love a lead on the grandchildren.
